Not sure who these guys are. This is a screen capture from the 2017 New England Arm Wrestling Championships . The gentleman on the left was easily victorious.Related content

One of my pet peeves is how arm wrestlers can use technique to such advantage. I realize that is how all sports are. That it is NOT just brut force that makes a champion. I certainly like the little guy wining over a brut or bully.
However, for something so basically meant to be a sport of strength I was annoyed when watching arm wrestling matches on TV, to see some smaller guy use some wrist bending "trick" to best a man who spent more time in the gym developing big guns.
I even read how a huge strongman (the 6 ft 7 inch one who acted in the beginning of the movie "Troy") actually had HIS forearm broken with a radial fracture! I just think that was a devastating injury for someone who had so much potential. I don't know how he has done after that injury but I am sure it hurt his competitive strongman career. And in all likelihood due to his opponent using what I consider trickery.
Anyway I would just like to see one of those guys using technique to be bested by shear muscle.
So in this photo I imagine that the guy to the right has been known to mercilessly break many opponent's arms using his "trickery" and now finally meets a foe who is simply too massive. Asked to compete to shut this jerk down once and for all, our middle aged muscle man has agreed to risk injury and compete. What the "pro" does not know is that he broke the wrist of our silver haired hero's grandson, rather than simple using a less sadistic move to be victorious, thus greatly impeding the grandson's strongman career. So grandpa has decided it is time to put this bully in his place. What he though would be an easy win as he planed to use the larger man's mass against him turns out to be completely the opposite. The "pros" fast twitched muscles are not strong enough for the quick take down so now he is forced into a longer match. The "pro" can't budge his older opponent's wrist no matter how much "technique" he uses as the mature hunk's wrist is wrapped in thick tendons as strong as steel cables. Then finally, as the pro is dripping in sweat he feels his hand begin to be crushed just as the barely perspiring silver-haired muscleman forces the pro to taste the agony of defeat!

Wow! I know I agree that the leveraging in arm wrestling seems like what us kids would have called cheating when we arm wrestled. It's weird always to see a professiinal sport that seems less rulebound than the schoolyard.
I did not know about that injury you mentioned but that sounds really awful. I would imagine guys with super long limbs might be risking injury against that extreme technique.
I love the detailed story of familial revenge which is hot and dispenses justice (symbolically, at least) for the wrong against that strongman and the grandson. It does kind of match the expression on the older guy's face--like he's on a mission--and maybe even reluctantly.
Thanks so much!

My mistake. The Strongman/wrestler/sometimes actor I was referring to is Australian Nathan Jones, 51, 6' 11" and 331 pounds. He did suffer a radial fracture due to arm wrestling but not against a tiny foe. It was against Magnus Samuelsson, 6'6.5" 353 pound fellow strongman! I think for me I would rather be better off trying to arm wrestle a Wookie!
