for some reason this reminds me of the works of both david lynch and the monty python group. it's weird, scary yet funny and in a way nice too, it seems to say "do try and look behind the mask that is me and which is watching you, who do you think you will find there?". indeed, first it makes you laugh, but if you stop and consider it for a moment, you might get this uncanny feeling. this photo is watching you.
btw, i mostly agree with what you wrote about in that journal about ppl not leaving comments anymore... only i'm not really pissed by this. this is just a sign of the quickening times, and favs don't mean sockdropping anymore, it's more like a positive nod. in the old times (said 8 yrs ago) giving and getting it meant high appreciation, a 10/10, nowadays it's a "hey, i acknowledge you exist and do cool things." the number of deviants and deviations is behind this.
btw (again), i'm not sure deviantart is an art site. it used to be that. today it's a community site primarily, with a focus on people who consider themselves creative.

It seems that this is about what most people feel. (At least, those of us who came here to use dA for art.) Well put, though it still makes me a little sad.
And thanks for the great comment! I feel that sometimes we hide behind our visual art as though it's a mask, but it is fun to come right out and hide-in-plain-sight behind one.
