Personality: He is relaxed and usually goes with the flow. His laid-back personality can be criticized as laziness, especially when difficulties arise. He doesn’t like confronting problems, and will rather let the problem sit, often leading to even larger problems. He has a “shrug it off” attitude, and doesn’t hold grudges. He loves to meet different people and chat, an important skill in his occupation. Even though his height makes him look intimidating and tough, he has a gentle heart. Flirting with girls comes naturally to him, and he makes friends easily. As a dog, he’s very loyal toward good friends, though recent events have made him more reluctant when it comes to trust and closeness. Despite his friendliness, he can be somewhat of a push-over at times, and has a tendency to be passive aggressive.

History:

Sharon was his owner’s name. He was a birthday gift for the little girl, one she had been wanting since… Forever, he guessed. They were best friends, the two of them, since the young girl didn’t have many friends her age. She would spend long hours playing with her dear puppy, Spades. Sharon would whisper all her secrets to him, and he would bark back, promising her that he would never tell anyone. The girl would write pages and pages of stories into her diaries. They piled up quickly, those small books containing her squiggly, childish thoughts. She wrote down their adventures, “so that we will never forget!” Spades always whined impatiently when Sharon wrote, wanting to play instead of waiting for her to finish.

It was Sharon’s 10th birthday when she embarked on her journey with him to become the best pokemon trainer ever. They packed their bags and Sharon talked on and on, to the point when she would fall asleep from exhaustion, about what they will see and the people they will meet. “And new friends we’ll make! Teammates!” Spades didn’t understand why they needed teammates, or why he would want to share Sharon with them, but he would always bark back enthusiastically. They’re finally going on an adventure! And Sharon would bring her diaries and record everything, and one day they’ll look back on them and laugh until tears came out of their eyes…. Except….

Sharon got sick. She got very sick. Two weeks before their journey would begin, she collapsed and couldn’t get back up. Spades would spend his time beside her bed, curled up, hoping that she would get better. When she coughed or cried from pain, he would lick her tears away, but that never seemed to solve the problem. Sharon only got sicker. One day, she put the key to her diary and adventure book around Spades’ neck.

“Promise me you would be the keeper of our adventure, okay?”

Two days later, she passed away.

Spades left after Sharon’s burial. He didn’t want to stay in her room or her house because it was too painful. Also, he didn’t want Sharon’s parents to touch their memories. He left “home” so that the parents would not take the key around his neck, the only thing he has to remember Sharon by. He wandered around Kalos for awhile, always afraid to go back “home” where Sharon’s diaries and books lie.

Sometime later, he heard that there was a technology for him to become human. Pokehumans could read the human language, he learned, and realized that this would be the reason for him to go back “home” and read Sharon’s diaries. However, when he was transformed into a human form, his fear of facing the past did not leave him. He still could not get himself to go back and retrieve the books to relive their memories. Ashamed, he worked his days away in the large Lumoise City, hoping that the buys city life could help him forget his past. To this day, he continues to do so.
