BALHURTLE
ELECTRIC BEETLE KING

Balhurtle is a titanic dinosaur monster with the ability to generate a powerful electric surge throughout its body.

It soaks up energy through the ground via its thick tail, and stores the energy in its various rhinoceros beetle-esque horns. Touching these horns will result in being electrocuted. It can release the power as a deadly surge throughout its own body, and as a result, anything in contact with it.

Balhurtle is known to somehow contact swarms of beetles and use them to do its bidding. It seems that in prehistoric times, there was some sort of symbiotic relationship between Balhurtle and an insect species- but even though this other species is long gone, it still knows how to charm modern insects all the same.

Balhurtle is an aggressive monster and should be treated with extreme caution.

It constantly fights with other monsters, and this very often results in its somewhat brittle horns being broken off- however, they simply grow back within a few weeks. It seems to intentionally stab its opponents with its elbow horns and then break them off, leaving them inside the opponent.

Hey, everyone! I'm back with another updated monster from 2018. This time it's Balhurtle.

Balhurtle was originally just something I drew as filler, to fill out a monster roster for a project I was doing in college. However, I felt I could update him into something cooler and more worthy of being a character.
How did I do...?

I gave him a proper theme of electricity- and unlike most electric monsters, he doesn't fire the electricity out in any way. No beam, no lightning. He instead electrifies his own body, like an electric eel, meaning you can't touch him without injury until he runs out of electrical energy.

Just to clarify, his horns are glowing blue due to him using his electrical surge attack. They're not normally blue.
They're normally a sort of blackish brown colour, as seen with his shoulder horns.
By the way, in this picture, he's rippling with an electric surge. I just thought it'd be interesting to draw him using it. He doesn't normally have blue lightning all over him when he's not using it.
