For dA's Ripley's Unconventional Art contest!

I'm not sure what possessed me to even attempt to give this contest a chance, I am not the target for any kind of (3D?) art. In fact I tried avoiding doing any sculpture work in art class if I could, lmao.

I used what I had lying around my house. What can be more unconventional than actual garbage? It also creates a nice scenery of irony, I made an ocean theme from the very stuff destroying the ocean.

Cardboard was used for the canvas and mermaid cut out.
Plastic bags were used for all the coloured parts, from water to scales. I just kept layering plastic bag and hoping for the best. I only had a small handful of colours to work with but I did my best to utilize them. I cut shapes out of the bags, or simply just ripped them to get the desired look. For the seaweed I stretched the bags and twisted them to make them look 'sea-weedy'
It is all being held together by tape, as I didn't have any glue on hand.
Scissors were used for cutting. (And what a pain it was to use them! I only have the standard big 'kitchen' scissors that come in a knife set block, so making any small cutouts was quite frustrating at times.)
And I used white ink for the bubbles.

I enjoyed trying something very different from what I normally do, I apologize for the sub-par quality photo, these camera phones really pixelate images and I am not tech savy to figure out how to stop it from happening when sending photos to my email.
