Description
Just a blah picture I took of the field where I photographed some fireworks last Tuesday, taken about 30 minutes before it started. This is a 30 second exposure, f36 (or something close to that) I think. The folks that light the display seem to be having some kind of pow-wow at first base in the distance (close up you can see few had moved during that 30 seconds). Although this scene looks lonely and devoid of much human activity, in actuality there were many thousands of people about all around this scene. Right behind me when I took this there were many hundreds of humans, thousands maybe, and even a street and a row of houses where everyone was having their 4th celebration. And there were more house in the distance there under those trees in the background (you can see someone even lit off a small bottle rocket while I had the shutter open), and thousands of people off to the left and right. I got down low when I took this so you can't even see the launching platform for all those fireworks which is hidden behind that slight rise in the ground.Related content

This is excellent photo with excellent pov,dof and awesome sky colors and note.
I love this excellent composition.
You really know how to use your 20D.
I used to use Canon 20D at my ex-job to take kid's portraits and tried to my 30D right before I go to my Turkey&Greece vacation but unlike Canada,NY or Maine noone was selling here in IL yet and had to buy XT again.I bought 4 times in 12 months period used and returned and now stuck with this xt(350d) and investing on lenses.
I bought new Canon 70-300mm IS lens and planing to but 1.4 or 2.0 extender lens (whichever works and fits) in INDY next month
Take Care,
Chris

Well, it's nothing spectacular - something that I actually tossed into the trash can and then resurrected on second thought (I figured it was okay enough for SCRAPS - ha). I myself really like night photos of almost any kind, probably because I'm a nocturnal night owl .. and even merely gazing upon almost any kind of quite looking night photo tends to put my mind into that scene and setting all over again. Seriously, when I'm feeling really stressed out (which is most of the time now) and wish I could just get away from the hustle and bustle of living on such an over populated planet (which is most of the time now), I find that I can GREATLY calm myself down simply by looking back at something I (or anyone else took) shot at night while everyone else is asleep. I'll also listen to something new age on my MP3 player or notebook computer while doing this - I particularly like some of this new-age ambient stuff (but none of that stuff with vocals in it), like the stuff you can hear on Hearts of Space or Starstreams !!! And that is primarily why I got back into photography - for the relaxing and calming and challenging aspects of it. I don't even really want to read a book about photography or ask anyone "what am I doing wrong" when I find something I'm doing wrong. For me, the fun is the learning on my own aspects of all of this. And with digital, you can learn instantly - none of that waiting a day or so until your prints return from the photomat place - and fewer disappointments! I simply LOVE D-SLR photography! If not for this hobby, I probably would have hung myself a few years ago when I had learned about thus cancerous cyst I have that will likely kill me within the next year or so from now - ha.
So, how do you like that zoom? I examined various digital zooms, and made the mistake of looking at some of the top-of-the-line zoom lens made by Canon (particularly those WAY EXPENSIVE lenses with gyro-driven image stabilization). Of course, no way would I pay that kind of money for that, for something I would want to take outside, at least right now. So, what I ultimately decided upon was to go with quality fixed length lenses instead, and bought a nice 180mm lens to start with. I found that THAT lens actually gave me better results than the Canon zoom lenses which were 5+ times the price - when used at that same length. So, for a lot less money, I think I got better quality than a zoom would give me, but limited to 180mm of course - but that's fine for what I'm doing, I don't mind the leg work. I don't think I'm going to be using zoom lenses that much any more, not unless I win the lotto and can afford to buy the best.

Well,It was the only Affordable IS lens over 200mm and after trying over 5 teleohoto lens last 2 years I forced myslef to but it because it is very expensive but I really wanted 100-400 L lens but it is 1250 and if I buy that my Ex probably demands higher childsupport
I recommend this lens any one who is really into nature photography but cant not afoord lens over $999(like 50-500 Sigma Lens).

ha, I tried to reply to this last night but DA was apparently having issues, so I don't know if it had worked or not, but I'll try again ...
Yeah, everything in life seems to involve some kind of compromise (or at least it should - ha, nobody should always get exactly what they want all the time because you know what happens to people like that ... eventually - ha), especially when it comes to $$$. My biggest concern over spending too much for this photo stuff is what I might have to do to myself if I should ever drop and break something. I'd probably have to kick my own butt something awful if I ever broke a $1000+ piece of glass ... and if that wasn't bad enough, I would then have to also force myself to compensate myself for that damage and make myself buy me another new lens of equal or greater value ... you know, as a form of punishment - ha ha ha.
