I wasn't exactly sure how to finish this one off, once I'd drawn him I was left with this random floating body that really didn't look right on its own without some sort of background on it ahah. I went with a kind of chilling out in some grass background in the end which looks kind of okay I guess erm

Yeah naga tails are neat, more flexible than mermaid tails, I've been thinking about getting some pieces done with them for a while. Hell, maybe I could just adapt the male lucia I used for my commission, although pink might be an odd colour for that lol.

For Nagas I generally go with/see people using real snakes as the basis for the design. My OC naji for example is based off of a tiger snake:
I think real snake patterns and species work really nicely on Nagas. For mers I don't really do that, with those I start with anything, flower, animal etc and use aspects of it to inspire their design, Since I don't much like mers that are specifically "a [insert fish name here] Mer" and think its best to design what looks good instead of sticking pieces of a real fish onto them.
Who says you cant have a pink Naga though I guess

Yeah, I can see the Tiger Snake banding on his tail, it works well. Still, pink snakes are a thing I guess, you've got the pink cornsnake here for example - - pretty nice pattern on it and quite an attractive colour scheme to boot so I reckon it could be adapted nicely. As far as mers go, yeah I've experimented with trying to add more fishy bits to designs when commissioning, e.g. Roxas (The ears, arm fins etc) but it's always felt a little slapdash, I don't think I've ever struck a balance that I'm completely satisfied with, simpler often seems to be better with these things

Ayyy that would make a pretty interesting Naga! I'm no expert but it looks like albinism on that snake giving it that pretty pink colour :} A very attractive Snake for sure ^^
And yes I agree! Generally I don't get too overcomplicated with mers and tend to stick simple if I can.
