A simple tutorial on making your own texture brushes. Or textures. Or splatter brushes....heck, even just your own brushes.
I am using Photoshop Elements 4 for this. If you have a newer Photoshop, or even a different program. And are confused on how to do this. I don't think I can help you, seeing as this is the program I am used to. And as far as Sai goes? I don't think you can do this in Sai. But if you can, please do tell me how LOL.
Well I hope you guys found this useful. And good luck to it!
AND BTW. The part about the nail polish being splatters?
That's how I made my splatters XD
So most of the time, when you saw blood splatters in some of my images, it was probably nail polish, scanned and made into brushes using this process xDD
!N-N-N-N-N-N-N-NAIL POLISH!
Also
ENJOY!

Wow, DJ, this is so awesome! First of all, I didn't know you could convert things to black and white that way - when I convert my scanned lineart into photoshop lineart, I always do it in RGB color mode and use the dodge and burn tools on the blue channel. Thank you for showing me what looks like a much easier way to do it!
I also never even considered the use of real media for brushes or textures. I've really just started using textures recently and felt quite lost. But I've got a ton of different kinds of sand/rocks/walls here I can take pictures of! I'm gonna have so much fun with this! I just feel a bit bad for my friend - he already has the task of scanning all my lined drawings for me (since I don't own a scanner) and now on top of that, he's gonna have all these splotchy, dotty paintings to scan too!

I think I've known how to do this, but I've just been to lazy to actually do it. This inspired me very much! Great tutorial.
