its photoshop, and you gotta do the drawing on a layer separate from the background layer it gives you. Then when your done drawing you delete that background layer and save it as a PNG. so that it comes up without the background in Deviantart

Ok and do you know if it will work for painter essencials 4? I have a trial version of photoshop cs5 but it's so confusing right now

I don't think painter essentials 4 does it. But if you wanna try it on the photoshop just do your drawing, delete the background layer (double click on the background layer and a window will pop up- press ok and it'll make it a normal layer) then delete it.
Then go into file > save for web devices > scroll down (this is towards the right hand top side) to PNG. *transparent background* > save. and its done!
