Description This is a portrait of my best friend, lover, and wife. I finished this for a wedding present, and presented it to her the morning after our ceremony. I took the poses from some of my favourite pictures I had taken of her, pencilled then inked it, and had her best friend get it framed for me. It hangs with some of my other art in our home.

How did I miss this one? You do solid black hair really well, and the bra on the bottom portion is really nice, too. This is a looker of a drawing, my friend.

Thanks... I'm still proud of it. The hair balances how white I left some of the space...

Yep, I would agree. The linework on the legs is really nice, too.

Really beautiful. I can see how much love went into it. The emotion really shows. The lines and contours are lovely as well.

Definitely something from the heart, that means more then something you can buy. I love making people stuff, it suits them better that way anyhow.

the head of the first one seems a bit too small, but the second is really perfect *_*

eh, proportions can seem odd where forshortened distances are concerned. Its right, but then so is the viewer, as the saying goes. Thanks.

What a wonderful picture! I could tell it was a subject you had some affection for before I read the caption, but then, well. Lucky you, she's beautiful! I admire your precise anatomy around the shoulders and the hip bones. My anatomy tends to be stylized, but yours just looks right, implies volume, You have a light, sure pen line, very nice. It's a charming piece.

gaWd, i envy your talent. usually, when i draw, i overdose my drawings with shadows and smudges to make them look better and realistic. this piece proves how the shadows are quite irrelevant when drawing.

Thanks very much; that is a deep compliment.
Good use of positive and negative space is sometimes all that is required in a black and white illustration or portrait.... this is made easy when your wife has jet black hair

Love this, Doc.
I always love seeing/hearing of artist and photographers who use their partner for their work. especially when it is made into a special gift for them.

I'm working on an image of my guy. I finally got my new digital camera and I cornerd Pat to pose for me (it's like pulling teeth with him). lol I promised I would make him look "cool". I had him pose with my shot gun and his H&K. lol what a dork I just love him too death When I finally have it done I will post it here for people to see. (if I can get back here on a regular basis again).

Thanks very much... I was hoping you'd get a chance to see this. Why can't you get here on a regular basis now?
H&K?
Tamera seems to like the art, and I've always liked it. Some friends have thanked me for the view it affords

H&K stands for Heckler & Koch.It is a type of hand gun made in Germany that the USA special forces use as a tactical weapon. This gun is virtually indestructible. Pat had been saving for it for some time.

The reason I have not been stopping in regularly is I was working on my web site (which is not all done) and now I have to finish 3 adds for these escort agencies by Friday for our yellow pages. I also have photos of the ladies so I can rework them into designer biz cards. The 'Madam' (or what ever you call the lady who runs the biz) is also requesting I take over the web site. lol It's still under construction with the other artist -[link] this is the link to the site. In a nut shell.....my plate is full. I feel guilty because I have not responded to all the people who faved my work and I really believe I have to say thanks to every one.
whuuuuuuuuuuueeeee (wipes her brow) lol

DocRedfield In reply to DreamingLizard [2005-05-04 08:37:16 +0000 UTC]

Ah, so.. It all becomes clear.
I had a feeling an H&K might be a gun, but I had to be sure. Any relation to the HK47? Just curious... I know rifles and revolvers better than other such stuff.
Good luck on the website design... always nice in a way ot have the plate full..

I was only familiar with rifles too when I was growing up. But since I have met Pat I have learned a lot more about the hand guns out there.

This is the gun- [link] artNumber=704501

That's quite the romantic thing to do. I've always wanted to do that for my wife as well, but alas, I am no good at drawing realism these days. I haven't had a life drawing class in so long I wouldn't know where to begin.

Going by this pic, I'd say your wife is quite beautiful. Good work.
