Description Nayru rules the kingdom of Labrynna, where she is known as the Oracle of Ages. She has the power to travel through time using her Harp of Ages. She is also a very experienced singer, and sounds beautiful to all who hear it. Link meets her after the Triforce sends him to Labrynna to test his strength. Nayru is later captured by a sorceress named Veran and the timeline is thrown into chaos, with history being rewritten to a time of fear. Link had to collect the Eight Essences of Time and use three songs for the Harp of Ages before he was able to defeat Veran and rescue the captured Oracle.

Nayru is named after one of the three goddesses that created Hyrule, and is represented in the Triforce of Wisdom. She also appears in The Minish Cap, where she will offer you a charm for your bottle that doubles your defense. The Great Fairies of Hyrule bestow upon Link the use of Nayru’s Love in Ocarina of Time, which encases Link in a crystal that prevents all forms of damage. He still gets knocked back though. This spell is optional to complete the game, but it gives Young Link a much needed advantage fighting the bulky Iron Knuckle with his Kokiri Sword. The protection lasts about a minute, and disables all other magical items during its effect. That's a small price to pay for invulnerability.

Nayru is apparently everyone’s favorite Oracle, as many people cosplay as her. however, is the prettiest of them, and looks just like the Oracle of Ages. She matched Nayru’s artwork perfectly! Even the Harp of Ages is perfectly accurate. The only real problem was that she doesn’t have a full body picture of her standing, and I didn’t like using the picnic table she’s resting on. But I found a fitting background in a park, so it ended up working for me. Creating her shadow was a piece of cake!

The background is supposed to resemble the kingdom of Labrynna, and a park with nothing in the scenery except trees and grass seemed very appropriate! The shot was entirely mirrored for the second side. The left side is the present, which has all the colors looking normal, with nothing altered. The right side takes place 400 years in the past, and everything takes on a different color, looking more aged (sepia). An online tutorial helped me, though I also used screenshots to help me match the colors better. Although the scenery changes when you travel to the past, nothing else does. All the sprites of the NPCs, enemies, and even Link remain completely unaltered. This is why Nayru looks the same. Although Link learns three songs to allow time travel, I couldn’t find places for the song’s icons in the scene. So instead, I used the Phantom Hourglass and placed in on the corner, flipping it to match its sprite in the game. When you’re in the present, the sand in the hourglass is at the top; this is reversed in the past. Each one is also a different color, which is shown by the glowing on each hourglass.

Oracle of Ages is more puzzle oriented than its counterpart, which makes it harder to complete. All the bosses (save one) are entirely original. This adds more variety to the boss battles, as you don’t know at first how to beat them. Beating either game will give you a password you can take to the other game, which will start your new game with an extra Heart Container and your sword right out of the gates. Taking that game to the end will have you lock swords with the King of Evil himself. You will also acquire passwords from several characters you can take between the games to give yourself more upgrades (like the Master Sword, Lv. 3 Ring Box, Mirror Shield, etc.).

Both Oracle games are pretty hard to come by nowadays, and they were both excellent games. If you find them, give it a good home in your Game Boy Advance (the DS can’t play GBC games). You’ll be glad you did.

Yeah, too bad that almost no one in the Zelda community knows about these games, despite of how great and wonderful they actually are.

that is disappointing.  At least you can find them on the eShop now.

It's a shame they never made an Oracle game for Farore.

It's a bigger shame that the Oracle series are underappreciated. I'm hoping they get rereleased for the DS, the way they were meant to be released. It pains me to think the greatest gems of the GBC go unnoticed. They deserve a second chance

Given the data storage space on the DS mini-game packs, Im sure they could fit Both Oracle games and a third one. BTW: Did ya know the Link's Awakening DX for GBC was the first Zelda game to feature an "extra" dungeon(something later featured in EVERY Zelda game afterwards?)

Awesome work! For some reason her shadow looks kind of funny. I think that it's supposed to go the other way, because then it would be going the same direction of the tree's shadow. other than that I love the two different portrayals of the picture.

You know, I never noticed the tree's shadow before! Guess I never paid much attention (ooh, something shiny!)

I was trying to match the lighting on Nayru, which is why her shadow is where it is.

Thanks anyway though

I loved that game! It was so cool being a merman. And Nayru is my favorite Hyrule goddess.

I do wonder why they call it a Mermaid Suit when Link wears it. I could just imagine Ariel popping out of the water yelling "Hey, give me back my tail!"

Nayru is the prettiest of the oracles. That's probably why so many girls cosplay as her.
