Firstly, I'd like to say that this looks very nice. I really don't have too many other suggestions, if any, other than to provide an option for changing how many columns/rows there are. With that comes having to find a more efficient way to display the titles when there are more than 6 items on the screen.

A few questions:
Are those lines below the app icons there to signify that they're open, or is it a scroll-bar?
What would the app switcher icon look like when it's inactive?
Are you going to rely on the application itself to provide a back button? If so, will you be able to enable a back button?
What would the split-screen do from this context?
