*** UPDATE: The animation here is turning out really dark for some reason. You can hardly even see Hivad here, just her eyes. I'm going to try and fix it, but idk what it's doing. Thanks for your support! ***Hivad is one of my favorite characters. I keep trying to finish her book, but holy heck I never do. This animation took a heck of a lot of time, and GIMP took ages to export every time I needed to update the progress so it probably hated the guts out of that... I gave GIMP emotions from this project.
This is actually like the "beginning sequence" for a song I want to animate. If it takes this long for me to animate a few seconds though, idk how I can get through 4 minutes of it. Buuuuuuut...
It's the first scene, basically, that would start in "Last of the Wilds" by Nightwish, at around 00:15 (ASSUMING I WILL ACTUALLY FINISH THE DARN THING) This animation itself is named after a song I revolve Hivad around called Dirty Paws - by Of Monsters and Men. I can make it a new project - if it doesn't destroy me with the others I have piled up - to submit little clips as I make them and EVENTUALLY, maybe in 30 years I will have a full song animated... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really cool effect! I am by no means an animator and know very little about the art of it, but I'll throw something out here. If you could make the lightning bolt pulse several times like real lightning sometimes does, it may give the viewers more time to define what they are seeing in the scene beneath the bolt. It would probably involve adding a heck of a lot more layers to the sequence, but I'm still fascinated by this animation....Great job!

This animation is actually meant for a piece of song that I want to fully animate. By the end of it, Hivad is left illuminated rather than going back into darkness. I just faded her into black for the sake of the loop. But omg, yes, I see what you mean. It's hard to see.

NOTE TO COMMENTERS: Hey~ Now that I sit back and look at it for the 80th time since I started it, it really doesn't look like it would be that complicated to make. I'm still haunted by the ungodly amount of layers I had to keep duplicating though. Eh. If ANYONE out there comes across this and you have a few animating tips to share to a beginner animator, PLEASE help me. (;_;
