Ah, Bob Ross and William Alexander would both have a big smile on their face while they viewed this painting. The colors that Don has chosen in this painting are very warm and inviting, even though there is snow above the tree line, I still want to wander through the fields of purple Lupines and into the lodgepole pines. I love it when an artist can work a pallet knife to create mountains of snow, which Don has done very well.These mountains really pop! He has created a good contrast between the light and shadowed areas of the mountains, which makes it look like the sun is out and shining bright, warming the hillside. My eyes are constantly moving throughout this painting looking at all the details, even as far as noticing the birds riding the thermal waves above the mountain peaks. I really enjoy this painting, although I might be a bit partial, since this reminds me of the Rocky Mountains in my backyard e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

As soon as I saw this painting, I instantly loved it.
I love how well you did the snow-capped mountains, it's almost hard to believe that this is a painting. It looks more of a photograph. I love how you put it together - the sky, the mountains, the grass, the flowers, everything.
I think that the sky would need more yellows, and a light shade of blue, but other than that, I think the pinks in the sky are really, really nice. Seeing this makes me simply happy. :3
This is going to be my desktop background, and I hope I did critiquing this correctly.

Now, I would love to see this in person - a photograph never does an oil painting justice! The depth and the way the light catches on the more thickly applied paint is always so much better in real life, so that when one sees photos like this and likes them, one wishes that one could enjoy it in its full glory!

This is no doubt amazing, especially the mountains, but I wish there was more of a difference in color for the trees and the grass and the shadows so the trees could stick out more; I feel like the trees just blend in. But that's only my opinion, and this picture is still beautiful, and you have skills!
