Hit the download button to get a decent view.Because I haven't submitted anything for about two weeks, I thought I'd put up some work in progress (WIP) collages.
I've been able to focus more on high-detailed work recently, so my interest in working on my STRAY HELIX™ original manga has come back with a vengeance - hence the content of the submission.
Descriptions:
01. Orkesstra and the Astral Anchor
A drawing of Orkesstra I started in late 2008, which was dropped in favour of the Orkesstra reference sheets I made. Also, I hadn't got her weapon design or clothing/armour anywhere near where I wanted it to be. I still think it's worth finishing this piece though.02. Orkesstra's Boom Box
Something I've been working on over the past few days. I'm intending to use the finished version of this artwork for the recently introduced "Featured Music" module on my dA profile.03. Orkesstra Expression Sheet
Somebody suggested I do an expression sheet for Orkesstra, so I made a start on one. I'll probably try to tackle the full range of expressions in blocks tough, rather than do a whole sheet of 24 expressions all in one go.04. Fin Cannon Thrust
Something I started a few months back but guess I got distracted from finishing it with all the shift changes I had to go through at work.I hope to finish some of these over the coming weeks and months.

Well uh I got nothing more to add than what he already mentioned to be honest. Only thing which bugs me a bit, are her hands in the boombox picture, they look a bit too small.
And expression sheets are pretty usefull actually, they help bring a character to life; I should do that for some of mine too at some point. I don't know how far you are into the blocks, but someone here made an expression meme which may has one or two more ideas for you [link]

Yeah, I thought her hands were a little small in that one, thanks for a second opinion on that.
I've already put together a template of my own using some of the pre-existing ones for some ideas, but thanks for the consideration.

Even though there's only five expressions, it's enough to make Orkesstra feel more alive to the viewer and help them see more into her.

I'm going to be expanding on the expressions more in the future.
These ones aren't finished yet (in terms of colouring and stuff), and I've put together a template to drop all the expressions into as I get around to doing them.

Ah, I was hoping for this eventually! I love the work in progress art you have here, it's a great insight into your thought process. It was already quite apparent in many of the other "WIP" entries, but the expressions in particular grab my attention. The precise measurements and alignment are impressive. It's quality control that I don't see from even some of the most advanced of artists. (For example, how you used a model of her teeth to position the mouth on the "Scared" mugshot.)
The flat colours on the first featured piece blend together in such a wonderful way, it's almost difficult for me to describe. It seems to focus on the primary colours: red, blue, and yellow, but then there's an additional green, but it doesn't detract from the rest of the hues at all, no, it's a point of interest. I'm fumbling over my own words with how much I enjoy this single work, and I haven't even mentioned the pose or lines! How Orkesstra is balanced brings an immediate sense of motion, as though I'm looking at a frame from an animation, and the blue stole is a perfect touch that brings it together.
I found the boombox to be a little peculiar, considering that you seem to be working with a futuristic theme, but I'm not exactly one to judge either. It is your universe, after all. Unless of course, it's non-canon for the purpose of the Featured Music section on your profile page. It's also good to see that you just about finished up that perspective test from a few months ago.
I just...agh. David, you definitely have a unique, intricate style that I find fantastic. It would be a shame if you didn't start up your own series of story-oriented comics.

Tbh I have earlier development work of Orkesstra which gives more insight into the design of her anatomy than the image in the top-left here. I'll try to get those up at some point in the future.
I was happy with the way the pose came out in that image though and the way everything in it seems to come together, as you pointed out. For this reason I still intend to finish this piece even though a lot of the design details are now outdated.
The boom box image is a non-canon piece - mostly for fun and getting back into generating high-detail work, which is something I've been struggling with over the past few months.
I fully intend to start up my own series of story-oriented comics, but it's taken me a while to get my work/free time balance right, and STRAY HELIX™ still needs some groundwork before it's cleared for launch.

Is that design for her attire common for her? The stars and colors, I mean.

Yeah, I want to get the boom box one finished as soon as possible really.
I was considering making the stars a theme for Orkesstra's attire a while back, but I don't think that motif is right for her in all honesty.
