Description
This is an extention fob for watch chains. It is about 1-3/4 inches long. You can see how extension fobs are used here: [link]This is made from a white metal watch part, with a steel gear and pawl still attached and movable, plus a brass clock gear, a garnet cabochon, and sterling silver jump rings.
The teeth of the brass gear were slightly shortened for a press fit in the watch part, and slightly beveled back from the upper surface to get a play of light, then all harsh edges carefully softened. The center hole of the gear was shaped to trap the garnet in place.

extension fob 2 instantly catches the eye of anyone who has been collecting watches for a number of years. its size alone shows a skill level that usually deters most artists from attempting a feat such as this. very well done.

I can't afford to collect watches, but I have a number of nice cases and chains. I do wish I could find sources for some of the chain parts.
