I know this is a stupid question but how do you "overlay"Β

i dont know which painting program you use ( i myself use gimp often) if you use gimp you can change the opacity of a layer from 100 % to whatever you want, id choose something around 30%.. i hope that this helped you

If you use gimp, just go and click on the layer you want to overlay, then click on the arrow pointing down beside what your 'mode' is, it will automatically set you to 'normal' at the start of every session, click that, and you will find overlay somewhere in there.
