Description Why, you may ask, do telekinetically-wielded mageblades have traditional hilts, even though it seems unnecessary?
I'd say that question falls in the same category as "why do ponies use doorknobs?" and "why do ponies use chairs?"

They can make the hilt out of some arcane material, enchanted such that could allow the unicorn wielder hold the sword with TK with such strength it's practically impossible to dislodge it from his/her grip, short of removing his/her horn? Maybe the hilt is where various performance-enhancing wards, spells and other enchantments are written on? Or maybe the hilt contains some magic crystal that powers the magic in the blade? Possibilities justifying the hilt are endless...

Well yes, that is all possible, but I was referring specifically to the "hilt" as an attachment for wielding the sword using a grasping appendage such as a hand or mouth.  :/

My theory would be "In case of no magic". I mean, swinging your sword around with your mind is cool, but what happens if you can't lift it with your mind for some reason? Then you need some place to grip it.
