Just to remind you, Guys...there's NO offense in this work. I definitely have no intention to say something like 'GIRLS, THROW YOUR MAKE-UP AWAY NOW. NOOOOWWWW...'
What I want to tell you is just to have a right perception about make-up. It's neither something to cover your true self, nor to hide the 'real' you behind it. It's something to make you happy and enjoy you life...as girls.
So, wearing make-up is perfectly fine, since it can emphasize your beauty features even more. However, you should have your own barometer to measure how much you may depend on it. Remember, you are all beautiful as you are.
After I had made some works that have very anime-ish style, suddenly I wanted to do a painted-styled work like this. /(OvO)/

Well..I've been watching YouTube videos about makeup tutorial lately...lol. They inspired me to make something like this. Haha...
And...I'll tell you one of my secrets :
Ryuuka is a seventeen-year-old girl who doesn't even have a single makeup tool in her room.

Firstly, I've got to say this is a gorgeous piece. I'm loving the colors, and the focus on pinks and feminine colors. It really says something, I think, towards the overall purpose of the piece. The background is so incredibly realistic! The only thing that I could suggest some improvement on is the anatomy on the girl... the upper half is brilliantly done! Her back, the emphasis on her ribs, beautiful shading and lighting! However, I feel that her body seems a bit long, and her thigh connecting to her side is a bit thick. that thick thigh connection is actually highly distracting to me, personally. This art clearly shows to me how the power of the media places a lot of pressure on the youth of today in the latest "must-have's" to improve a girls (or boy's) looks and to be accepted for the beauty they must portray.
The use of the cracked mirror is again a very strong use of symbolism .. very nicely done, with the lack of reflection to show dissatisfaction with her own image.
Media is subtle in how it builds up peer pressure on the youth and this is a good example of the consequences of the media's campaigns.

great message by the way! girls should be informed about one of their main rights, which is to be nicely natural!
i used to be goth in your age so i occassionally did racoon's eyes to express myself and perhaps scare the passers-by just a little bit) but mostly no make-up which required some explanations to my counterparts and relatives sometimes and was a bit tough.
but i got by without losing something very important: knowing what my inner self was like without all that artificial stuff.
