I absolutely plan on a full body. Robots are particularly hard for me tho. I'll need a lot of time.Β

Really cool. I like that you made him so shiny and colorful. In the first MechaGodzilla movie, I thought it was a little odd that when the protagonists find that scrape of space titanium that it was so shiny and iridescent, yet MG himself had a matte finish. This seems more consistent. Makes him seem more alien too.

I just came across the rest of your pieces after looking at Jet Jaguar images. Nicely done work. Great imagination, talent and modernizing.Β

When I was little, I saw Godszilla vs Mechagodzilla, and I thought that Mechagodzilla was the good guy because he was so shiny.Β I've always liked shiny things.Β You've done a fantastic job of capturing the texture of the '74 film's villain.Β I must say, this is getting an instant favorite from me!

This and your Mothra Larva are probably your most accurate redesigns...when comparing to the originals. They look just like the older suits, but they have some updated curves and design elements. That is probably why this is one of the more popular ones. The metal look is just amazing. Reminds me of the shin that was on the original 74 suits.
Which always bugged me, now that I think about it. Why would you polish up you giant war machine of death?

It makes it more powerful obviously

Perhaps it was just a property of the space titanium. lol.Β

Was this easy to do? How did you make it?

dopepope In reply to HerpDerpington11 [2014-10-02 21:17:31 +0000 UTC]
Easy, not very. I made it from a single shape in zBrush. Then added secondary shapes after the main head shape was formed. Then I added details until it looked like MechaG. I then rendered out several passes and composted them in Photoshop. After further finessing, it looked like this. I find robots on the difficult side to sculpt. Hard surfaces require a lot more refinement, and technique to achieve. It can be time consuming, and tricky.Β

FANTASTIC work. 70s MechaG is my favorite Godzilla villain bar none, and you've done him justice here. Furthermore this new rendering looks perfect.

This is a much improvement over the last rendering. I'm loving the new material you have added which looks much like actual titanium. Β Amazing work as always. Will you be doing a Legendary take on MG in the future?

Thanks man. I don't think there's a place for Mechagodzilla in the new coming films, if they keep with the realism. But if they don't, and things get crazy, I'll have a think.Β
