"Burnit Nule! What have you been DOING?!"So Fergus is officially spooked. A foreign wizard armed to the teeth and wearing full armor appears at his shop asking about Nule. You don't send a knight after a thief unless he stole something BIG. And unless you intend to Kill the thief upon recovery. And to add insult to injury, there's the money. Nobody walks around with that much money in their back pocket without either being important, or representing someone important. And this fellow just offered Fergus a small FORTUNE on a whim, simply for providing INFORMATION as to Nule's whereabouts.
Fergus does NOT want a part of whatever THIS is....
Fergus doesn't particularly like Nule. But he doesn't want to be the one to hand him over to someone like this... He doesn't want Nule's death, torture, or dismemberment on his conscience.
On another note, Fergus doesn't recognize the Wizard's language at all. It sounded vaguely like spanish... or french. Maybe a little german? But This fellow doesn't seem to understand ANY of those languages. At all. Just how far did they travel chasing Nule?
Guess we'll find out.

And here I thought Fergus would be eager to give Nule up, after his whole thing about stealing from the dead and all. I guess I underestimated his character. Though, perhaps I should have guessed that he'd try to protect Nule after his traumatic dream, seems he already has issues with feeling guilty about other people's deaths.
Unfortunately, I get the feeling Fergus is gonna be involved with this whether he wants to be or not...
I do wonder, though, how Fergus would feel if he knew the person looking for Nule wasn't actually a wizard. Hmm...

Yes that. But more confused than anything else I'd say.
I think you've hit the nail on the head with this one. If Fergus handed Nule over and then later learned that Nule's body was found in some river with cinderblock shoes it would haunt him for the rest of his life. He doesn't like to get involved with others problems. But the idea of his action or lack of action hurting someone is particularly haunting to him.

I looked up what the wizard was saying in google translate, because I wanted to know what he was saying, and it said the language is Esperanto. I've never heard of that until now, but it sounds like a pretty cool language.
Awesome page by the way. I wanted to give the wizard a hug after seeing his sad face in panel four.
