Another little thing I did at school. I know the burn is probably a bit too big for a cooking stove...but there was nothing else to take a good photo with.

we used some kind of latex, I forgot the name but you use it to make bald caps. You put some of it in a bowl filled with water and burn it. Then do it again till it looks like you wanted, put in on the skin, glue it on and paint it.
Just pay attention that nothing else gets burnt

that yellow-ish and glossy parts make it so realistic 
especially the contrast between the dry, coaled edges and the deep pit of the major "injurie" make this to an outstanding piece of work!
