Task 9 for Show your OC losing their temper and the reason.

This is going to require a bit of story telling, so be prepared

First of all, the young man in the picture is Prince Calaen.

He's the reincarnation of King Ragnall, who was shown in this picture as an illusion -

That fancy sword he's got is Ragnall's, he's just come back from retrieving it at Iolanthe's request so that he can fulfill the Gods' prophecy.

There's a little trick about Ragnall's sword. One of its qualities is that it makes it impossible to cast a spell on the person holding it. Iolanthe doesn't know this, she just thought it had healing spells (which it does as well). When Calaen first showed up at Iolanthe's, she cast a spell on him to "encourage" his attraction to her. It held until he left and nearly died getting the sword. So, when he returns, the spell isn't on him. Iolanthe tries to cast it again, all the while trying to convince Calaen that his needing to have the reincarnation of Eriantielle is not necessary. That she can do anything that little peasant can and much better and he deserves someone far more elegant and powerful as his future queen.

Calaen disagrees and refuses her, mainly because he is now immune to her spell casting. He's also disgusted because he can feel the spell attempt and he's spent most of his life under spell control and really hates the idea of being manipulated yet again.

The refusal pushes Iolanthe over the brink. Furious at his denial of her, she decides that he's being controlled by the reincarnation of Eriantielle, not that it's something she herself has brought about. So, she lashes out in fury, determined to destroy the one thing that stands between her and the future she feels she deserves. As you can see, when a magic user loses their temper their eyes glow

The anger of the sorceress and her actions have shocked Calaen so thoroughly that he's too stunned yet to go into action, horrified at what Iolanthe is doing, watching as Iolanthe attempts to kill the person she sees as her rival.

Unfortunately for Iolanthe, her actions are going to have consequences, for Calaen won't be shocked for long.

Iolanthe's little critters are watching all of this from the shadows, wondering how it's going to end.

Iolanthe's dress is a callback to her original inspiration I'm curious if anyone recognizes it (my daughter did but she knows my inspirations already )

I need to redesign that sword . . . it is amazingly complicated
