Pffffff...whatisthisidonteven....My first tutorial.
And I really have no right to be making it, considering I barely know how to make shimejis myself. 
At the request of (who wanted to create a shimeji of her own character), I figured out how to make a basic shimeji and created this monstrosity for her (which in all honesty is probably better than having to explain it word-for-word).
And for the record, my handwriting is not that bad.
I just don't have a tablet to make things easier on my poor fingers. You can get the shimeji file I used here: [link] (I recommend the mischievous file). I don’t have Sai, so I can’t do a tutorial for that, but the idea is basically the same; open the shimeji file, create a new layer, draw your character on top of it, delete base layer, and save.
The only hard part about it is drawing around 40 different poses.Anyway, I hope you find this somewhat useful…message me if you have any problems reading it, or you don’t understand my instructions.

That's strange. I made the tutorial several years ago though, so it's entirely possible that the website was taken down. I can try to see if there's another file somewhere, but your best bet might be to try and search through Google. :c I'm sorry about that.

it comes included in the file download. ^^ there are two different versions, so you can use whichever one you prefer.

hmm...you can't open the files? Did you try opening each image individually? Make sure you unzip the file first, before opening it. Otherwise the images won't work properly.

Excuse me, but can't we just use the dA Muro?? Please tell me if that can work out because I have Paint(Windows 7 version).

Ah...I've actually never tried using DA Muro! Since I have photoshop, I never bothered to mess around with it.

I don't know if I can. Though DA Muro is exactly like Photoshop so it's pretty much the same thing.

Hm...that's true. It'd be hard to save the image files...what you might end up doing is submitting it to a drawing folder and then downloading the image.

I tryed. It replaced the shimeji frame I used for a base. I had to replace the file (sadface)

That's because it needs to have a transparent background, saved as a .png file.

.png is a file format, not a file. It's what you save your pictures as you can create a transparent background. I think you need GIMP do create transparent files, though...

there's a setting on GIMP that allows you to transform your pictures. There isn't any background I can link you to. QAQ I'm sorry...
