Description
This is the easiest tutorial I've ever seen. Seriously, anyone with paper, paint, tape and a glue gun can do it. I got the tutorial on youtube but it seems like she's taken it down. Bummer. Okay well, no problem. Here's what you do. You will need:regular printer paper or if you want your wand longer, construction paper. You're gonna roll it into a cone shape. Larger at the top, smaller at the bottom at the width you prefer and then tape it so it's stays in place. Snip the ends so they're even. Now cut strips of newspaper and stuff it inside your cone/wand. Get it nice and tight so it gets hard and won't bend. Fill it with newspaper to nearly the top and get your glue gun. Fill up the top so it's end is nice and smooth and rounded. Then you'll take the glue gun again and create any pattern you'd like on the outside of the wand. Then ho hum.. either hold it forever til it dries or find a place to prop it up without messing up the glue pattern.
When that's done paint it with acrylic. Voila! There's your wand! I'd love to see yours if you make one!

This is from a while ago but if you wanna do this again you could just use a chop stick. These look great though!

Here i've made a ton of these I hope I can help. You dont roll up the tip you put a dab of hot glue in the opening to round the tip.

Wow! That's a great idea... I love it! I wonder if I have any tape or a glue gun...
Did you use printer or construction paper for these?

This is a totally brill idea.
It's definitely one of the easier tutorials I've come across for wands... which is great since my two young nieces' christmas presents involve 'magical' capes and pouches... and I was looking at buying them 'fairy' wands, but now I think I'm gonna give this a go!
I've already attempted a test one, just out of paper anyway and I was wondering if you might have any suggestions as to what I could use if I wanted to make it a little bit more weighty so that it feels a bit better in your hand? Or does adding any glue decorations give enough weight?
I only ask since the finished wands would be going to a 6yo and 3yo; and it's prolly a safe bet they'd go around waving them around like crazy.

I've got such a response that I'm making some more of these to sell. I'll be putting them on etsy when they're done. $5 per wand, $7.50 to add a draw string fleece pouch. I'll add the link here when I have them up!

I am going to HAVE to try this.
Putting together a birthday/hpdhp2 midnight premire party and we have 22 guests already confirmed. We were just going to get a bunch of sticks and paint them but I /love/ how these look. I'm going to have to try and see if we can't mass produce these instead.
