Description
..I'm a grapheme-to-color projector, and I also have ticker-tape and possibly sound-to-shape synesthesia.None of the stamps out there like this really appeal to me, so I made one that would.
Just
Also, you can comment and share what kind of synesthesia you have, if you like!
(please Google synesthesia if you don't know what it is)
This is my first stamp; hopefully it looks okay even though it's very plain OTL
Made in Photoshop Elements 8.

...wait... synesthesia can be relating letters/symbols to colours and the thicker-taping... i just read about it... i knew what it was but didnt think i had it...
but now i'm thinking about it and since i was at least 3 i always related the number 4 to the colour pink.
and i sometimes used to ticker-tape, but it doesnt happen all the time so maybe i have it mildly??? ^o^ le gasp wow.

Yes, that's EXACTLY what it is! c:
Like if someone says "I have to pee," I see/imagine that sentence in my head. For me it's absolutely crucial to understand what someone's saying; if language is too garbled and unintelligible, causing absolutely no words to form, i have no idea what's being said! It's mostly useful for memorizing lyrics/quotes/verses, and I think it helps with spelling skills. (at least for me. i dunno!)

I have the run-of-the-mill associative grapheme-colour synesthesia and ordinal linguistic personification, and it's interesting to see how it's affected my learning and reading abilities compared to non-synesthetes and other synesthetes. Thanks for making the stamp!

Wait wait wait...seeing the words one hears is a form of SYNESTHESIA?! Well, I've known for a couple of years now that my colored graphemes and sounds, plus a bunch of other connectivities with my senses and thoughts and emotions, are abnormal, but I thought that everyone saw the words they hear in their mind's eye! Wow, I guess one learns something new every day.

I have a whole list of types! According to the internet they're called Grapheme-color synesthesia, Ticker-tape, Chromesthesia, Spatial sequence synesthesia and Auditory-tactile synesthesia.
This stamp is cool, but the colours are... wrong. S cannot be red... nor Y blue... just... *chokes*

Oh wow that's super cool!!
Haha I know. I made this according to the colors I associate with the letters, but most of my letters are either red, green or yellow so I changed some.
You're right. S shouldn't be red, nor Y blue For me they're both yellow!

I have...
*ticker-tape
*grapheme-->color
*sound-->color/movement/spatial position/texture/weight/etc.
*smells-->color/texture/movement
*physical sensations-->color/movement/spatial position/texture
*time-space concerning months of the year, days of the week, days of the month, and seasons of the year
*number-form synesthesia (only way I can do arithmetic lol)
*non-ordinal personification = all the different notes/keys I play on an instrument (particularly the piano) have personalities and relationships and interactions with one another depending on how the song is flowing

Oh wow, that's really neat!
What is number-form?
I think i might have a few of those -- sound-to-shape and sensation-to-shape specifically -- but i dont know because they're both very minor and for all i know, i'm just over-hopeful haha
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
rainpeltkitty In reply to DragonTygress [2014-05-27 16:10:02 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! I can't imagine life without synesthesia - it must be so boring. xD
Number-form or spatial-sequence is where you have an automatic mental map of numbers, like your own personal number line in your head that may or may not make any sense to anyone else lol. Mine is straight, although a lot of people's are not. It's like the only way I can do arithmetic in my head lol.
That's really cool, I don't know much of anything about shape-related synesthesia. Well you could have them and they could be minor... my smell-to-color synesthesia is pretty vague, and I'm not sure if I have taste-to-color or not. The way you'd tell is if you associate sounds and shapes or sensations and shapes automatically and involuntarily, and the result is consistent. That make sense?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DragonTygress In reply to rainpeltkitty [2014-06-01 04:31:01 +0000 UTC]
It must be! o: I wonder how people are able to spell words or do math or remember anything without it. Wow.
Ohh i see! Makes sense when you explain it that way. I wonder if I have that, as well -- i definitely use a mental number line a lot, though i didn't think it counted since it isn't any unusual shape.
Smell- and taste-to-color? That's awesome, minor or not! I know for sure I don't have those. ;3
Consistency ... Good point. I'll try to pay attention to the 'shapes' and see if they're the same every time. :3

rainpeltkitty In reply to DragonTygress [2014-06-02 17:08:52 +0000 UTC]
I know right?
I don't know, mine isn't an unusual shape but I think it's the way you use it that counts. And if it automatically conjures in your mind, or if you summon it, you know?
It can be cool... It makes unpleasant scents/flavors more difficult to ignore though lol.
Yeah, I'd be interested to hear what you experience. :3

I may have mild grapheme-to-colour synaesthesia, probably from my mother who told me about her 'seeing' colours at a young age by reading.
I've just started noticing some stuff, living in quite a fast paced environment I don't ever notice that I see the colour of the word 'love' is brown and that the number 9 is pink and that 'maths' is a red colour. I don't necessarily have the Reading Rainbow in every book I read but I've also actually noticed that some letters just 'seemed' a colour even if the printing is black. Not very prominent, possibly not even synaesthesia but it's rather cool how one change in DNA can make people taste music and make senses intertwine nonetheless!

DragonTygress In reply to ScribbleChaiBird730 [2014-05-16 04:27:38 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah, that's totally synesthesia! I'm the same way. For me every letter and number has a color, but when I actually read things only certain ones stand out. Red A and green E are especially prominent. :3
You're right, it's so amazing! Fascinating how no one really knows what causes synesthesia. That would be an awesome area to study.
Also thank you very much for the watch!

Hiya friend! ;w;
I don't have a PM so I can't use but I faved, definitely.
I have personality/people, month, weekday, and emotion to colour, and very minor colour to taste.
I might have grapheme to colour, but some of the characters are fluid and the colours are foggy and very hard to pinpoint when it comes to mind, you know? When I think A I think of red right away, but like, the colour of J is foggy. Compared to like, when I think "Tuesday" and know instantly of royal blue.

DragonTygress In reply to xhimederex [2014-01-07 04:55:11 +0000 UTC]
Hello! :3
Oh? I think that at some point, dA made stamps usable by members without PMs ... try pasting the 'thumb' code in the right column onto one of your page widgets. It should work. (If not, that's a bummer ... I'm positive I've seen normal members with stamps on their pages. Hm.)
Oh, wow, that's a lot! I only have graphemes, months and weekdays when it comes to color associations.
And yeah, I understand ;-; It's a bit annoying, in my opinion, when something changes colors on some occasions or doesn't appear to be much of any color at all. C and T are both green, typically, but then all of a sudden they'll be yellow?? And for me, both Tuesday and Thursday are a bit 'foggy'. I'll often confuse the two, as well; someone will clearly say 'Thursday', but I'll think 'Tuesday'! (A is red for me, too. I read somewhere that that's a pretty common association.)
What's personality/people to color like? Can you give any examples of it? I've always thought that one to be so interesting because it's so abstract. o: Or what about emotion to color, or color to taste? I hope you don't mind these questions. I've never met anyone with any of those. ;u;

I'm not really sure what triggers it, but I sometimes smell things that aren't there xD Last time I walked into the class and the moment I opened the door, the smell of pineapples were swarming everywhere XDD But when I asked everyone, they said no one brought or smelled pineapples and I was so confused heh
Sometimes I hear sounds that aren't there too, but like the first, I still have no idea what triggers it
The triggers of both of my cases seem to very specific lol since it only comes now and then, unlike usual grapheme-colour xD
Oh! and as for your ticker-tape, do you really visualize the "subtitles" very clearly and is it automatic? Like even if you're not paying attention to a sound, you see the "subtitle" in your mind?? o3o
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DragonTygress In reply to shieonn [2013-12-02 14:43:11 +0000 UTC]
That's very interesting! I'm not entirely sure if that's synesthesia, but then again, I'm not an expert. |D So many different kinds exist that it could easily be one of them.
Yes, very clearly and completely automatic :3 It's in my mind's eye, of course. I'll try to pin down exactly how it works sometimes, but all I've been able to figure out is that the letters don't have serifs. I'm not sure if I see whole sentences at once or individual words, but I think it's broken into logical phrases when I hear people speak.
I find that my ticker-tape is essential for me to understand people when they talk. It's completely automatic, like I mentioned, but you see, if you say something and it isn't clear enough for me to envision in my mind I have no clue what you're saying. I think that this is why I find it easier to learn new words by seeing them written than by hearing them; if someone says a word aloud that I've never heard before, I often have to ask them to repeat it several times until my brain can come up with a spelling that makes sense. Then I'll actually be able to remember the word.
