I like to point out the the she was shown in the comics first and she look nothing like this, farther proving my belief that the comics are nothing more then glorified Fanfic
But at least this episode being it back to events for the very beginning of the showAlso is the fact that her mane is the same style as Twilight means that there is a "notice me senpai" thing going on with her
