Done for a PE "weekly portrait" assignment. When I read ~cozyfire 's character information for Raven, a three-year old genetic experiment with the body development of a 12-year old and wings so heavy that walking and just standing is difficult -- I knew I wanted to do something that showed Raven's childlike mannerisms in some way contrasted with her body development.
I happen to have a teenage sister (oh crap she's going off to college in a month!) who has this habit of napping in the exact same position she did as an infant. So I sorta, uh, stalked her for a while. Eventually, she fell asleep in that position, I snapped photos, and voila! Fabulous reference image! (And the sister still doesn't know she was ever photographed, bwahaha.)
I found this really soothing to draw, despite the fact that I am not used to drawing feathered wings on human figures (I'm more a "draconic" drawing type), nor am I much good at drawing kids. I'm told she looks closer to 14, but...I'm glad I got that close at all.
I hope I can color this some day.

i really like this one - would it be alright if i tried my hand at coloring it? i'm not sure how long it would take to finish for me (i have a lot on my plate right now) - but i'll post and credit and link and everything when it's done if i could

Thanks for the interest! But I'm going to decline. In the past I might have permitted it, but lately I've learned that I'm just not comfortable letting strangers mess with my art. I really prefer to color my own work (and sometimes permit friends or artists I'm very familiar with).
Again, thanks for the offer though. Just on a tip, are you aware yet that there are now groups that cater to just having lineart that colorists can hit up? Maybe worth checking out for you, if you're into that sorta thing!
