It's as bad as trying to recover a corrupted .psd file. Oh man! I now remember to save often! Sometimes...

I know, right? I've run into that problem myself!

That feeling I get when when my computer crashes while working on a project, but I say 'Stop showing off the swirly ball of doom to me! Dexter!'. (It's a Mac computer) but at I least I have a better relationship with it than my former laptop, it always crashed when feeling like it.

Yeah... that feeling of doom... and rage...

It doesn't like After Effects for sure and started to show the ball at me again, maybe is jealous of the new laptop (is much powerful) or hates Christmas (since I was playing Slade at the time)

After Effects can be rather evil to computers, I find.

Yup, this is precisely why I hit that save button every ten seconds or so... because when I forget to, THIS happens.
I think just about everyone (with a computer) can relate!

Yeah... or at least everyone who actually uses their computer for something other than Facebook and Netflix.

NUUUUUUUU! Oh yes I had that happen a lot with my music. My wonderful realistic instruments would cause the program to crash when I worked with them. So much anger!
Nice comic!!

I know, right? Synthesizers tend to destabalize my computer a lot more than other programs do, so I definitely know the feeling. Thanks for the comment!

No... which VST package are you using? It sounded like a SoundsOnline one, but I couldn't be sure.

Gneiss-chert In reply to Droakir [2014-11-14 20:25:40 +0000 UTC]
Yes that is it exactly! I have a few of their packs but still lacking a bunch of instruments I need.

Droakir In reply to Gneiss-chert [2014-11-14 20:32:21 +0000 UTC]
Awesome! I was right!
I've been trying to find a package that suits the work I want to do music-wise. I think I'm going to end up having to get a combination of CCC2 and the NI K10 Ultimate eventually. Not a happy prospect, considering the costs, but I do sort of need a wide variety of instruments for the orchestration stuff I work on.
So just curious - what kinds of instruments do you need?

I have EWQL brass, strings, and symphonic choirs, hollywood orchestral woodwinds, QL Gold Pianos, QL RA (love this one), QL Stormdrum 2, and QL voices of passion.
Im missing the orchestra one so harps and the like are basic garage band ones -_- same with guitars of all kinds, and I really really wanted Dark Side package. =/
They have big sales near holidays I waited for that and got a big buy 7 get 70% off. Every time the sales came up this year I had a crisis that took money so haven't gotten the rest yet. Though I also need something better than garage band.

Yeah... the EastWest libraries are incredible... AND incredibly expensive. I'm kind of biding my time until I know I can justify the expenditure (like knowing I'll actually have time to use the sound libraries to make music). That seems to be my biggest reason for not having picked them up yet.

Yes I can relate. I have a good collection of written songs to arrange yet and given tsds is finally taking off I decided it was time. I have an aleiss QS8 keyboard but I can t get the instruments on it to record in every program i tried. I must be missing something and no one has been able to help me yet. Of course its about 11 years old now.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
Are you talking about trying to record built-in sounds on your keyboard to your computer as you play?

Gneiss-chert In reply to Droakir [2014-11-15 22:43:22 +0000 UTC]
Yes trying to record its built in sounds to the computer.

Droakir In reply to Gneiss-chert [2014-11-16 01:01:59 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, you can't record those over MIDI. The USB or MIDI interface is only going to send key presses, not the internally generated audio.
To capture audio, you're going to need to run the stereo audio out directly into a line-in on your computer or mixing board. This is the one I use, because my line-in on my motherboard has a bit of noise due to how the power is in the neighborhood:

Anyways, that's what I've got.

Yeah. Essentially you run the headphones out from the keyboard to the line in on the computer.

Nothing quite like that feeling of; "5 hours of work down the drain" followed by explosive rage! My computer has crashed (and corrupted!) some of my best artworks / music compositions with save-crashing!
I do love the slightly deranged expression in the final panel. In that situation, I'd be far more... vocal. XD

I learned the hard way once when I had a catastrophic system failure. Since, I've always kept regular backups.

Looks like a very hard project if you were using bits... like, editing every singe bit o.-.o
But I guess you can always hammer it out hehehe.
