For a good friend... who is getting ready to kick some serious ass with this 'borg.ΒThis was fun to put together and I really leaned hard on IRAY to get the materials look I wanted. All in all, I think it's a pretty bad ass borg
Daz Studio4.8[BETA] -> IRAY -> Photoshop

Ooh, cool! Gotta love the way Iray handles lights.

I'm having a love / hate relationship with IRAY and lighting... on one hand, emission is great... on the other, there seems like a real disconnect between the default lighting values and the exposure so I'm always tuning on something.Β Overall though, there are lots of things it does really well

I hear you! I was just messing with it today. For some reason, I keep expecting it to behave like Lux, even though I know it won't. Because clearly, Iray is not Lux. But it definitely has some strong appeal.

I really miss being able to fine tune lighting in real time while things render in Lux... having to start over with each IRAY render every time I adjust a light is tedious... it's fast, but once lighting gets complex, I feel like the fast starts to melt. If I had another GPU or two I might not mind...

There's a workaround for that, if your GPU feels like treating you nice. There's an option for "NVIDIA Iray" in the drop-down menu where you choose display options. You know, wireframe, texture shaded, etc. I've got mine set so the Auxiliary Viewport does a tiny little real-time preview, but it works at full size also. It's not full quality, but certainly works for adjusting lighting!
