Description Went into downtown Birmingham today for a little LE fun. FINALLY got a day with some clouds after a week for high pressure and blue bird skies.

I really appreciate that! This is out of the area of what I normally do so that is nice to hear.

I saw this photo before and seeing it again and still getting a huge sense of wonder out of it I just have to fav this sucker! The angle isn't too much, the soft focus of the clouds creates a great sense of motion, too. The glass of the building reflecting them makes it seems almost as though it's a tower of clear class and not concrete and metal. And then people say that present day architects don't make awe-inspiring works. It takes photographers like you to show the world otherwise. ♥

THAT means a bunch to me! This is so very out of the norm when it comes to stuff from me but I absolutely love shooting architecture. I often hesitate to upload things like this for some reason and dont shoot it much. I am always about pushing the limit and trying new things so to hear this from you certainly makes me smile! This is another really long exposure that gave me the cloud movement. The building is made of like a polished granite and reflects almost as well as all the glass does. This is probably my favorite sky scraper in all of downtown Birmingham but I dont have many to choose from so. LOL!

Not many around these parts in Knoxville, either, so never fear! Most of the photographs of buildings I run into are either just almost portraits, barns, or sapia/b&w pics. The fact that you aimed to create motion is what set this piece appart. You should test the waters and upload some of your building photos~♪ Who knows? It might be yet another nich of creativity you can occupy in this space of the Internet~♥

A very good point you bring up! I think bringing the cloud movement into architecture shots adds a great natural contrast. The smooth flowing clouds and the hard, ridged concrete and steel. Yeah the many many times I have driven through Knoxville I havent seen many skyscrapers either. I have never even been around Knoxville as far as being "in" the city. Just always going past on my way to the National Park.

I am truly honored to hear that coming from you Jon. Your architecture work has truly been an inspiration to me. Still working on getting the confidence for that whole "street" thing though. I have a few more I will be sharing.

Thanks my friend Street is hard for some people I can understand that Dennis,it`s not a normal thing to want to shoot strangers but it is a fascinating that is full of variety every time you try it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dsnider In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2011-02-20 19:25:19 +0000 UTC]

I can certainly see the intrigue for it. You simply never know....but that AMAZING shot could be out there waiting for you every time you go in pursuit of some street work. I still LOVE the street shot of yours when the woman smiled at you.

True man and yeah,I like that one too,it`s pretty rare actually that a stranger will smile back at you when you`re shooting them out of the blue like that
