Thanks. The problem is that most of my macro photos are made in 'studio' not in nature... I just suffer from lack of lenses...

it's not about camera... in fact more important here is lens or rather lenses because I've used two of them ( sigma 70-300mm with reversed ricoch 50mm ) - but ofcourse I love my camera anyway, thanks for comment! and feel free to watch some more photos

i love how the hairs give the illusion of eyelashes. somehow they remind me of sweetums from the muppets.

Hmm... matter of aperture is a bit complicated... because I used two lenses to take this photo. The first one mounted on body was Sigma 70-300 and the second one, reversed and mounted on sigma, was ricoh 50mm. And I set f:8 ( or 11? I don't remember exactly ) on ricoh only. Sigma had max aperture and was set on 300mm.
Shutter speed is rather not important because I used flash. I think it was 1/60 or 1/80.
ISO - 800
Manual flash.

aah when I use this method I have the reversed lense as wide as possible like f2.5 on my Pentax 50 mm and then adjusting the camera mounted lens's aperture as needed. I have the same Sigma lens I love using the high f stops.

In my situation when I used smaller aperture on Sigma vignietting was going higher and contrast and resolution were lower :/ that is why I was using only reversed lens diaphragm.

Dang, wish I could get that much detail of the spiders I photograph! Then again, a better zoom, and higher-quality camera would probably work. But, for what I do, my nice little (I mean little!) thing does a lot more than most people's do.
Then again, much of it is about the photographer, not the camera.
Awesome shot, though.

How big is this spider?!

Dunadan-from-Bag-End In reply to Hector42 [2006-09-09 12:52:35 +0000 UTC]
very small... something like 5mm, or smaller. yeah, they have huge eyes, because they hunt some other bugs - they are jumping to them and kill them. They can jump a few cm far even. The do not use net for hunting, just not to fall down from the wall.

yeah, c'mon i live in POLAND - we don't have those giant tarrantulas besides as I know jumping spiders are all over the world very small.
