"Focus and determination are just making a single thing your distraction."

▌GOV ID

  • Name: Adrian "Chess" Sands

  • ID: 98 - M - 42 - 504

  • Sex: Male

  • Age: 20

  • Height: 5'8" - 174cm

  • Weight: 60 kg

▌SANCTUM DATA

  • Archetype: The Determined

  • Avatar Gender: Male

  • Gang: CalamitysTear

  • Rank: noob

  • Expertise: Coding, specifically. Hacking, while a skill, is not his forte by any means and he doesn't even like doing it. Coding and creating programs are where he takes to water; and he has quite a bit of experience in making viruses too.
[WEAPON]
  • Spear: He doesn't intend to be on the front lines, but if it comes down to it he's trained in spear combat. His primary objective is always diversion and defense. Drawing attention away from whatever is in danger tends to work better for any objective he might have, and this works well with the weapon type considering how pole weapons are supposed to be handled. Offense is not something he'd necessarily be able to pull out on demand.

[STATS]
  • HP  :

  • INT :

  • DEF :

  • SPD :

  • ATK :
[ABILITY]
  • Follow Me: Chess has the skill to literally command attention. His power works something like a distracting thought or popup window sent out to an individual (or multiple if he's willing to put in that effort). If you try to return to your original task, this metaphorical "popup window" flashes more prominently. You must close out of the thought to resume other things, but it doesn't mean he can't send it again. The process is an irritant at best, but can leave foes working on a code system vulnerable to outside attacks. In order to avoid the distracting effect, you must instead make the distraction your focus. Making eye contact with Chess will negate the effects, do to the small virus accomplishing its task, and striking him down will cause the effects to recede entirely.
[STRENGTHS]
  • The power can be all encompassing to one individual, taking over all other thoughts if not taken care of.
  • Using the power as a protective measure is a way to introduce immediate safety in many cases:  including distracting a strike from hitting its intended mark (such as a bullet being fired off course, a sword swinging into the ground, tripping, etc.). Depends from person to person.
  • Look at the bright side, you don't have to yell in a loud room to get attention.
  • Perceptive: able to keep track of mall details. He may not be the smartest, but he has eyes and he's going to use them. He enjoys people watching, and will do it often.
  • Enjoys working in units, teams. He can take on most rolls to get a task done, even delegating himself as leader of a project if necessary
[WEAKNESSES]
  • Chess can only make things focus on him, and as such intentionally draws in the line of fire. Don't bring this to a gunfight.
  • Sending out too many of the signals to different sources can mess with his head, causing him to "zone out" in the sense of cartoon characters with their brains sucked out. Focus becomes rather impossible, can be rather distracted by clouds.
  • Higher level programs can resist the distraction more, and would need more error messages sent, lower levels would be more susceptible.
  • Personally, he's not very good on the offensive. He's not sure how to throw first hits, or advance, causing some hesitance when not attacked. He tries to overthink offensive strategies.
  • Passive aggressive af, and will be petty over little things and not let them go. Has a jealousy streak.

▌PERSONAL FILE

[PERSONALITY]

Socially Primitive | Emotional | Vengeful |  Childish | Team-Oriented

Despite being in what might be considered an "adult hobby" like coding, he's not as mature as the talent implies. His social skills often consist of bumbling around until he does something right, making snide remarks and spiteful comments toward those around him. His emotions control a lot of his actions, causing impulsively, and will often do the first thing that comes to mind. He holds grudges easily, and can become bitter over his own assumptions over human behavior. Misunderstandings are common, he doesn't always get how to express what he wants. A teenager in an adult body, he's often seeking validation. Thankfully, as he's open about his times of dislike toward other people, he's also outward about when he does appreciate someone and their time. He finds flaws in people on principle, but actually works better in team situations. He's got snark, but he's willing to play any role of support or leadership needed to get a group to success. End goals are the most important things in his mind.

Granted, the end goal could be "can I throw 10 paper balls at this guy before the anyone but her catches on?"

[LIKES]

  • Metallic Tastes
  • Messing with people, their possessions, their homes
  • Conspiracy theories!!! alien stories!!!
  • Electrical Tape Is The Only Good Remaining In This World
[DISLIKES]

  • Data loss
  • Please don't put baby in the corner/ isolation/ containment
  • Sensory overloads: too many sounds, smells, lights
  • Teaching anything

[BACKGROUND]

An average life tends to start in an average way. Adrian’s life had started out fine, with a brother and loving parents that did no wrong in his eyes. They loved him, and kept him after the two year period wait. What more could he ask for in that kind of situation?

Well, a lot of things actually. Like maybe his friend in the harsh world, given by birthright and taken by complications so far out of his control. But now? He digresses.

The balance in his life began a major shift when his parents had their first “big” fight in front of the boy, and like any young kids he reacted in confusion. Another fight ended the marriage and all that remained of the family was unexplained concepts. Divorce? Where was am I going?
The boy's mother whispered toxic words in his ears when the man she may or may not have loved had his back turned, told them what to tell people about their father. Tell these people about when he threw you in the air, cry about when he'd hurt mommy, you'll be a good boy. Right? If only your father let me keep your brother, he could help you right now. But in was hard to understand such simple statements with the subject of them told you the same thing as the original twisted songbird. All the same,The lines between truth and fiction were a bit blurred, for he was too young to comprehend that parents weren't always good people.

The matter ended up being settled out of law, and both parents divided their time with Adrian. The youth was fast to jump into the new role independence having two half-available parents. He made himself even less available than them. He withdrew into worlds where nobody had to see his face, couldn't see it. He became a screenname, a digital mask of personification, and he loved it. He was Chess. He drifted out of the touch with reality and hated coming back up for air in the world outside of the program. Chess locked his feelings away, shut it down, and immersed himself with people that had nothing to do with his life. He became in love with code. This Chess didn't notice his life was going on without him. The terrible concept of time continued its march, his parents introduced him to his real brother. An elite worker of the Agency, flesh and literal blood, and holding no care for neither parent nor sibling. Though who could blame him? He had a purpose in life, run by an omnipresent entity that Chess had a few issues with.

Suddenly he had quite a few more problems with humanity's mother bird.

The family was not being brought back together in a happy reunion. Chess refused communication with all of them when he came of age. His rage had long since dissipated, and settling into quiet resentment of the Agency and a hatred of what it had done to his idealistic version of the virtual society he prefered. This budding anger was invited to settle it's weedy roots within Sanctum.
