Ive been reading the new Thor comics featuring the new goddess of thunder. Β She's still new but she seems like an interesting character

Currently in the comics, Thor Odinson is no longer worthy to wield the hammer due to previous events in 2013 to last year. So it was left on the ground ownerless and for the next worthy candidate. A few months ago, a human woman who is worthy finds the hammer, picks it up, and is now granted powers, Asgardian armor, and the title of Thor.

Basically, it's a new character that takes up the God of Thunder's mantle.

Yes he still exists its just his calling name changes to just Odinson since he's no longer the God of Thunder. He's still Asgardian though and using an mystical axe from his younger years.

It's Angela from the Spawn universe, right? I'm really interested in seeing what Marvel does with the character, I loved her.

In norse mythology, the giant Trym had stolen Thor's hammer. At the same time, he was also going to marry Frey against her will. So Thor laid a plan to stop the wedding and retrieve his hammer. He dressed up as a Frey and went to Trym's wedding instead of her. There, he and Loke participate during the feast, and Trym asks his mother to get Thor's hammer and place it on Thor's lap so they can be wed above it. As soon as Thor gets his hands on the hammer, he swings it above his head. He starts attacking all the evil giants, and none of them are saved from his wrath.

tl;dr - The Male Thor stopped believing in himself and in that Mjolnir no longer wished to be paired with him so MT (Male Thor) couldn't lift him anymore. Β Some other woman picked Mjolnir up that it believed was worthy and became Thor! (Female Thor Β haha) Β MT became Son of Odin because he wasn't worthy of Mjolnir. Β It's just been going from there.Β

Freyja is also the current ruler of Asgard in the comics, so for the same reason we didn't see Odin starring in many issues.
