Bloody Sunday:
On 30 Januari 1972 there was a protest in Northern Ireland. There were mostly Catholics in this protest because they wanted more rights. The English government had forbidden this protest, but it still continued. Soldiers interfered and shot 13 unarmed people dead. This is seen as the start of the Northern Irish civil war called The Troubles.
The two main groups were the Irish Replubicans who wanted Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland to be one, and the Ulster loyalists who wanted Northern Ireland to stay part of the UK.
