Description You think you can't talk dutch! You are (almost) wrong! A lot of the (American) English words come from The Netherlands. I made a list of words I hear the most and ones I like.

Words I hear:

Cruller
Etch (from carving)
Drill (verb)
Dope
Dike
Harlem
Iceberg
Dollar
Frolic
Grap
Gas
Geek (fool)
Gin
Golf (the game, but only the name)
Gnu
Knickerbocker
Landscape
Leak
Luck
Mart
Pit (fruit)
Polder
Pomp
Stockfish
Stove
Tickle
Trigger
Tulip (duh)
Rover
Wrack
Splinter
Split
Slurp
Spook
Still life
Santa Claus
Snicker
Snack
Slim
Sled, sleigh
Sketch
Skate

Yankee

Words I like (mostly because they are written (almost) the same as in dutch):

Aardvark
Avast
Blunderbuss
Bogart
Buckwheat
Bulwark
Hooky
Forlorn hope
Freebooter
Easel
Domineer
Keelhauling
Keeshond
Knapsack
Guider
Ietsism
Galoot
Morass
Patroon
Pinkie
Puss
Snoop (verb)
Smearcase
walrus
Wentletrap
Yacht
Wildebeest
Witloof.

It is possible that there are common used words in the last row, but I don't know that, because I'm dutch myself.
There is a lot more. So if you want to know more: Go to wiki.
