The Matrix is one of my favourite sci-fi films and I got excited when MarcelisKhaldern and I decided on creating posters for the trilogy. I created this poster for the first film, he worked on the poster for The Matrix Reloaded which you can see here and we're both busy collaborating on the poster for the third and final film, The Matrix Revolutions.

As always, it was a jumble of random ideas flying about in my head, including a thought about peanut butter sandwiches and coffee which then led me to make just that. And then when I got back to my creative mulling, the first thing I thought was, "I should have added apricot jam." When I really got back to working on the poster, I started forming what I thought was an amazing idea. And then I stopped to admire my progress which ended up in the recycle bin. So I thought, "What's the first iconic moment that pops into my head when I think of The Matrix?". And then the rest was history. I got working on silhouettes right away and the colours and layout fell into place not long after. I added what I thought is a cool little design touch with a "Matrix Sunset" and that was a wrap.

I'm really proud of this and I hope you like it too.

Edited to add: I've uploaded a higher resolution of this on 27 December 2016. There are a few rough edges when inspected up close but perhaps sometime I'll upload a more polished, final version. This was never meant to be anything more than a simple fan project, hence the sloppiness. I still like it though.
