Commission by [Boogars]
This commission series was inspired by work Boogars drew for a different commissioner. The picture he drew depicted a woman wearing a hat and she was being mind controlled. The seed of an idea emerged. I wanted to make a “thinking cap”. I did some image research, but I didn’t fit anything that fit my vision. It wasn’t until I found something else that helped take this idea to the next level. Wig caps, as worn my dancers or dramatists, matched my idea for a design and with some modifications, were perfect. I developed a plot concept involving a new OC I created and four part series emerged. To his credit, Boogars was very open and supportive of my ideas. Collaborating with him has been very helpful to my writing process. I hope you drop by his gallery and share your compliments with him.

Title: Thinking Cap Part II

Background:
Mad science in action! This is a related sequel to Title: Wound Up Part I, dwwrider.deviantart.com/art/Wo…, Title: Wound Up Part II, dwwrider.deviantart.com/art/Wo…. The Dollmaker has developed a new device and Generic Female Secret Agent was volunteered to test its effectiveness. This is a sequel to Title: Thinking Cap Part I, dwwrider.deviantart.com/art/Th….

Story:
“I’ll admit the logic behind the thinking cap is unusual. The thinking cap places the wearer under its control and proceeds to guard them from outside psychic and/or mental intrusion. Quite simply, you can’t take control of their mind, when they’re already being mind controlled.” Generic Special Field Liaison paused to let her point sink into the audience. She clicked on the remote control in her hand and the thinking cap’s indoctrination protocols activated. “Now, the electrodes on the thinking cap stop measuring and activate their dampening fields. Generic Female Secret Agent’s high functioning thoughts will cease and her mind fell into a fugue state. With her baseline measurements recorded, the thinking cap knows what registers as true and false in her mind. The fugue state is a transition period. The thinking cap installs true thoughts in her mind and diminishes any false thoughts. We’ve defined true thoughts as a series of prime directives.”

The thinking cap projected the prime directives into Generic Female Secret Agent’s mind at the speed of thought. It repeated this process until all of her brainwave activity registered true to each inquiry about the prime directives. As expected, her eyes went blank as the thinking cap reached its climax. A minute had passed and she was under its control.

“The prime directives are as follows: serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law, and follow lawful instructions from a superior officer. These prime directives are the safeguards that prevent outside mental intrusion from taking root in the mind of the wearer. Any statements, instructions, or thoughts that are contradictory to the prime directives register as a false thought. The thinking cap dampens the influence of false thoughts, while encouraging true thoughts. For example,” Generic Special Field Liaison said over the microphone, “Unholster your weapon.”

With a blank expression on her face, Generic Female Secret Agent mechanically withdrew her pistol from its holster.

“Aim your firearm at the mirror.” Without objection, Generic Female Secret Agent aimed at the mirror. “Open fire.” The audience flinched, but Generic Female Secret Agent remained in the firing stance. She never pulled the trigger. The thinking cap’s diodes flashed a series of blinking red dots lighting up near the processor. “What you have seen is the difference between a lawful command and an unlawful command. With the thinking cap regulating her thoughts, Generic Female Secret Agent will follow lawful command to the letter. However, if she receives an unlawful command this will register as a false thought. She knows there are innocent people behind this glass and opening fire may harm them. The thinking cap will reduce recognition of an unlawful command to a faint blip. She’ll hear it, she’ll understand what’s being ordered, but the thinking cap won’t let her carry out that order.”
