There was a tramp where I used to live did the same thing. So I bought him a packet of fags all for himself.

Not really. His carer makes sure he always has a wallet of tobacco with him. I've spoken with him about it, and he said it's just what he used to do. It's sort of hot-wired in his brain.
He hangs around the Pasty Shop most days. And for some reason that day I took a shot.

Yes, and sadly, the number of brain cells. I think his name is Steven, and he's one of the "Care In the Community" patients one sees around town.
Sometimes we chat, but mostly he sits with himself.
