Great work with the dragon. I've never get such detail and deep carving in the leather. Is it very thick? Its look like it is.
I had some questions, but I've seen you answer them in a previous comment, so thank you. ^_^
Do you paint it before of after adding the bee wax?
Is it the liquid bee wax the one that makes the space for the water, or you craft it so you create the space before sealing the leather with the wax?

It would be great to find a tutorial about how to do this kind of decoration and flasks.

PD: Sorry for my expressions if any is wrong, English is not my mother language.

Thank you.

The leather is about 3/16ths of an inch (almost 4 millimeters) thick. Some of the depth is an illusion created by undercutting. To do this, take a very sharp blade and cut just a tiny bit under the part you want to stick out. Use your tools to depress the layer beneath it, and you will get greater depth. You can most easily see where I did this on the bottom of the wings where they come forward in front of the rest of the wings (there is a deep shadow there).

If there is any painting to be done, it is done before the beeswax. Once you seal it with wax, it can't be painted.

To make space for water, I fill it with wheat. Once the leather is dry I pour all of the wheat out.

I don't know of any video tutorials, but here is a basic guide to making the flasks. It doesn't really discuss decorating, but it covers the basics of making a basic flask:

Your work is soooo good. I can stare at it for a long time. Very humbling, I can only hope that my leatherwork will get half as good someday. If you don't mind my asking, how does the bees wax thing work? I've never heard of this !

Thank you for your kind comments. The beeswax is melted (but not too hot or it will blister the leather) and poured into the flask. In a liquid state it impregnates the leather. The remainder is poured out, and when the leather is cooled to room temperature it makes the leather as hard as wood and completely waterproof. It also darkens the leather to a mahogany-like finish with a rich luster. I don't use it for many things, but for vessels like this it is the perfect technique!
