It is interesting that every tiger has a unique stripe pattern like every zebra has a unique stripe pattern as well as humans having different finger prints.

You're welcome. Tigers are my favorite cat. By the way, what variety of tiger was that? It looks very much like a Siberian tiger.

The sign said Amur Tiger, but I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as a Siberian Tiger. I have never been able to tell different types of tigers apart myself.

Yup, it is the same as the Siberian tiger, just another name for it. The main difference you can see between it and other tigers is the thicker fur. plus, Bengal tigers have that really long ruff on their face, particularly males. Much longer than that of a Siberian Tiger. Β
Also, there is a plan to release Siberian Tigers into Kazakhstan where their Caspian counterparts used to live; Caspian tigers were essentially just a variant of the Siberian and not distinct enough to be a separate subspecies. Β It may happen sometime within the next 4 years or so from what I've read.

we could and do need them. I'm just glad the Siberian tiger numbers are rising, there's around 480-540 wild ones. that's a big change from when there were only 38 or so in the 1940s.Β
