First off awesome sketches! and second I just wanted to ask how exactly you approach your pieces like this? because I'm trying to do more works that tell a story rather than having a character stand in blank background. Anything would be appreciated

i used to have the same issue as well. an easy way is toy lay out the character first. the background comes second. this way the character will feel grounded and will still be the center of attention.
