The Minister of the Cathedral of Shadows smirked, propped up his shades upon the bridge of his nose. "Curious, Hitoshura: your own blood for this demon?"

Hitoshura gave the minister a bare glance. "It's not a demon, not in your sense or mine. I acquired all four elements for a reason."

The minister chuckled, spread his hand down his azure robe. He paced around Hitoshura, the boy's stature belying the demi fiend's power. The consistency of his black markings were the only denotation of his lethality. "Fire, ice, earth, electricity." He savored the last element. "Your own blood. What do you wish to gain from this?"

"Something other than this world," Hitoshura replied. The moon above the industrial, unsullied pillars flashed with a hazy albicant light. "Something in spirit, something malleable." He returned the minister's smirk with his own.

The minister smiled, slowly nodded his head. "Controlled chaos?" He laughed at the notion. "We'll see how they meld."

The ridges of the moon glowed with a sanguine light, cast down a jagged bolt misted with blues and greens, struck the layered platform. The energy dissipated and reformed, manifested into a bipedal figure, sinuous, reptilian, horned. It crouched at first, and its prenatal power rose as it stood. Its markings became visible: cobalt signs curvacious and consistent, yet lost upon the flesh, body strong yet foreign. Its amethyst eyes burned through the darkness of the cathedral. In a deep tenor, confused yet burning, it asked, "What is this? Why am I here?"

Hitoshura said in turn, "A test from one that bears the name of spirit." He smiled a little, airily laughed. "You can tell me your name, yes?"

The reptile canted his head, brow creased with thought. "Spyro." He lifted his chin at Hitoshura. "My name is Spyro."

"Good," Hitoshura said. "I am in need of the elemental master. But that title has yet to be tested." Languid ocher flames shimmered the air from behind the boy. "I hope I have not sacrificed in vain."

The beckoning of conflict pulled Spyro from his shock. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, splayed his clawed hands and smirked. "Wrong hope, boy."

"Oh?"

Spyro lowered his head. "Survive your own test before you expect answers."

The minister receded to the farther reaches of the dark cathedral, kept his musings to his own ears. "Oh how the earth will tremble..."
