It's SonSal Week on Bound for Freedom's Tumblr boundforfreedomsonsal.tumblr.c… www.deviantart.com/boundforfre… and the theme for today is Reunion, so I decided to redraw Sonic's return from space.

I've actually always hated the original. You’d think I’d take whatever SonSal content I can get, but no, the original has always filled me with disappointment.
Here’s what I wanted to fix:
1) Awkward posing. I very much appreciate what they were going for since Sonic had been standing behind her while she was sitting, but my legs hurt looking at it.
2) Bad anatomy. Sally’s spine and Sonic’s nose seem to have stopped conforming to 3D space.
3) Wrong emotions for the context. Spaz’s cover got it right, which made this scene even more disappointing. Sally’s kind of traumatized and in shock, but Sonic’s just like, “Hey, I’m back, let me kiss you.” Comes across as ignoring Sally’s pretty obvious feeling, but I suppose that’s in keeping with the writing for this whole return-from-space arc.
Overall, very satisfied with this redraw. Might move Sonic’s left arm to be closer to the original. I’ll likely color it one day when I’m not so busy.
