Description
(1989) 9"x12", pastels and charcoal on vellum.Another ancient Spock drawing, found while hunting for tax receipts. This one's a bit more somber, and I remember having to improvise on the facial coloring, because I had run out of one particular cream color that had served me so well on the previous drawing.

Another great Spock painting. Any more hidden away? Go look for more tax receipts!

The shading is really good! I also like what you did with the background.

My favorite character also! My father is exactly like Sarek, and my mother is just like Amanda. I am like Spock. Fighting an inner battle between logic and emotion. A half breed of Vulcan Logic and Human Emotions.
Very nicely done...

I think that is why he appeals to many people, including myself: the difficulty in expressing emotion without seeming weak and the feeling of being partly an alien among humans...

It's wonderful, looks like you did fine on the colors despite the improvisation. An amazing treasure to uncover while looking for receipts! (Did you ever find them?)

Thank you, and yes, everything I was looking for, plus a black widow's nest. I guess it's a hint I should clean more often...

Yeah, I usually take the water-glass and postcard approach. Water glass goes over insect, postcard underneath and then both get fluffed out on the patio...

Simple, doesn't involve touching or crunching, that works!

It really great! Lovely colors and background choice. Made me giggle at first because it looks like he stares at me and is like, "wtf?"

Yeah, I agree, he looks a little taken aback... Someone made an illogical remark, perhaps?

Call me crazy, but I really like this one over the original one. Not that the original one is bad mind you, even back in 1989 your skill is/was wonderful (and lightyears ahead of mine... hmmm lightyears, a completely unintentional pun, I like it!) But being a huge fan of Spock, I think this pic truly captures his taciturn Vulcan self whereas the original one has him with that big smile that I find atypical for one such as Spock.
Nevertheless, both are wonderful. I dig it!

I especially like how the corners of his eyes by the bridge of his nose are light green instead of pink, as they would be on a human. Nice touch... and great job!
