Description So a lot of people have asked me for the Miranda model I used and I wish I could give it to you, but it's not actually one model per se. I basically used 3 different models, hid the different parts I didn't use and then saved the scene as a obj-file and imported it to 3DS Max.

Thought I'd just drop a lil w.i.p of the cover and how I got the model to look as nice as it does.
I totally could not have done it without the tutorials from LoneWolf117 (who also provided the background and lights) or SumireHaikuXNA who taught me what the liquify tool is (omg!).

Thank you for posting this, now I have a general idea what should I do. I'm stuck on the first stage, lol So I need 3dsmax to get rid of unnecessary parts of meshes, right? And one more stupid question — how did you get the neck look like on the pics 3 and 4? Is it liquify tool? Share the secret of majesty, please, because I'm a newbie and correcting neck is what I need, but don't know how to do.

Well, I use XPS to get rid of the bits I don'tewant to use then I export it as an object and open it up in 3Ds by importing it.

Unfortunately you can't get rid of the necklace.  :/
That is all Photoshop wizardry as well as the neck as the liquify tool tends to make the neck look weird.

Waaaaiiit. I thought you meant the Zirca pic I just posted, my bad.
Yes, this one I used liquify tool for Miri's neck and shoulder.
But necklace is still all up to CS5 skills.

Thank you so much! I'll remember that. BTW, I'm so grateful that you told me about this tool, it does wonders with hair as well!

You're welcome! Glad I could help.
The liquify tool is great for so many things.
But because it moves the whole area, sometimes it doesn't quite
work for the picture without distorting it too much.

Yeah, definitely. I learned that today as well. And polar quordinated made picture look so cool but distorted the figure too much.

Yeah, but you know, the more one plays around it the more one learns.
It's really fun because you discover all these cool things and photoshop
just makes basically anything possible. And there are some really cool
tutorials out there as well. One thing I definitely recommend is to study
light. It really helps knowing how light falls and acts to make the picture
feel more real. Or maybe you're using it to mod your game?

Yeah, you're right, I've only recently got into all this stuff and already learned many interesting things. Thank you for the advice with the light, I try to make it look realistic on my pictures, but I know only basics, so I definitely have to learn more.

I never used light to mod my game if that's what you mean. Sorry, I don't get what you mean quite clear. :3

Oh no I meant if you're going to use the model in the game.

Ah, I see. No, not yet, I haven't gone that far yet. I hope I will get all the programs I need soon and will be able to start learning meshmodding and bring new stuff in game.

Ah I see.
I wish my computer was good enough to run mods for ME3 on it.
Dragon Age games are much easier to mod coz you can just install everything with a simple click.

Dragon Age is very modder-friendly. Mass Effect 3 is a real pain in the ass when it comes to modding.
