Description This is a logo I designed for a Christian Apologetics Conference.  I highly recommend listening to the sessions, you can find them here:

www.revival.tv/sermons/reasons…

Apologetics: "speaking in defense" is the discipline of defending a position (often religious) through the systematic use of information. (quoted from Wikipedia)

Christianity is based on Biblical information, facts and reason.  It is not a "blind" faith as some people say. There is solid evidence supporting what we believe.  Personally I think that it is very important for each Christian to individually know why they believe in Jesus.  Don't believe just because someone told you to, look into it for yourself.  It just makes sense.

So, why do you believe what you believe?

I think that they will broadcast this conference live online at www.revival.tv but I don't know for sure. The event will be November 16 from 9am-4pm PST.

Speakers:

Dr. Norman Geisler

Dr. Joe Holden

Dr. Ron Rhodes

Topics:

Why do bad things happen if God is good

Why I believe in the resurrection (evidence proving Jesus rose from the dead)

The top 10 archeological discoveries proving the Bible is reliable

Reasons why Jesus (not other religions) is the only way to God

Thank you for your explanation.

You can't see Blind Faith being realistic, but it exists. There is also a dictionary definition for it! So, going back to my initial response - blind faith exists regardless of your opinion or feelings about it. I'm not going to argue anything past that point anymore for I'm not sure what we are really arguing about anyways.

Sorry if you thought it was an argument. I was just stating my viewpoint and trying to help you understand it. According to the unabridged dictionary I own, it is not listed. Faith is listed though, and one of the definitions reads "belief which is not based on proof". I disagree with their definition.

I must say, I agree with you.  Every belief has a reason behind it.  No matter how small the reason is, there is at least some small reason why we believe something.

It is amazing that Martin Luthor ever declared that reason was an enemy to faith. He was clearly mistaken.

Did he really?  Wow.  I don't remember that part.  I just remember the good things that Martin Luther did for the protestant reformation.

No body is perfect. Every theologian had their flaws.

I like this, I really do. Not just the overall design of the piece, but the whole minimalistic style in general looks great. The only thing that gets me is, doesn't "Apologetics" sound sort of deafeatist? Like we're apologizing ahead of time for what we're about ta say?

Thanks for the encouragement!

Good question. Actually "apologetics" is the official term  Notice in my description the definition from Wickipedia.  I know it sounds like the word "apology" but it has a very different meaning.  I guess it's one of those funny things about the English language.

Anytime, sis.

Oh, I read the description, that's why I thought to ask. I dunno, is it just me or does it seem like Christianity as a whole now pussyfoots around the big issues we're supposed to be conquering so we don't "offend" anyone?

Emberblue In reply to Haseo-Ani-Waya [2013-10-28 17:41:15 +0000 UTC]

I think that a lot of Christians are that way, yes. But not all of them.  I think that the Christians that are not afraid to stand firm on big issues are considered by others to be "extremists" and "haters".  It's like people expect Christians to just roll over and be docile about things.  It's so sad.  It's like people care more about not offending people and care less about the truth.

I had the same issue when I was talking philosophically with someone at my college just the other day. Further along in the conversation it turned out that she was Muslim and a liberal, so that probably didn't help, but it made me realize that Christians, and possibly Christian-Americans by extension,we now live in a country so fearful of being politically incorrect and offending others that no one can take a stand for something stronger than general intrigue.

I find it odd that other religions are allowed to be bold and "offend".  Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like other religions are praised for being bold, but Christians are looked down upon.

I was thinking the same thing, but when you take a step back and look at it from a historical perspective, we didn't exactly tread lightly when we carried a big stick, if you catch my drift.

I'm not sure.  Just keep preaching the Word I guess.  Keep building disciples that love God and know their Bible well.  God will work in people's hearts in ways that we never could.  Pray for boldness and genuine disciples.

When I was working on this and almost finished one of my fellow designers told me that I should make the bottom part look like a light bulb.  I thought that was a brilliant idea.  So I did it, and here we are.
