Name > Julia

Nickname(s) > Jewel, Ju, Juju

Tribe > Silk/Rain

Occupation/Affiliation > Civilian/Explorer

Mentor/Apprentice (if applicable) > //

Talon/Order (if applicable) > //

Appearance > Julia is a very slender dragon, she barely has any muscle on her bones, and because of this, her limbs are very scrawny. But because of this, Julia is extremely swift and agile, she uses her short stature to her advantage. Julia isn't abnormally small, but she is quite a bit smaller than the average dragon her age. Julia has a long, thin tail and wings that are slightly larger than average for a dragon her size. Her wing membrane has a tear along the edge of her left wing from an accident when she was younger. Julia's horns are long and curled like a Silkwing's, she has Silkwing feelers on the top of her head, and the structure of her face and body more closely resembles a Silkwing. Julia also has two long fangs that stick out slightly over her bottom lip. Something like this could look intimidating on another dragon, but because of Julia's slender build and slightly fragile appearance, it doesn't do much to make her seem intimidating.

Because she is half Rainwing, Julia's scales can constantly shift and change. Her emotions are usually displayed on her scales, so it's easy to see what she's thinking. But sometimes she'll focus on a specific design or color palette, often mimicking the colors of her surroundings. Julia's favorite colors to shift into are usually more muted colors, pale blues and oranges have always been her favorites, along with pink and sometimes even green. Julia doesn't like to focus on bright colors that make her stand out against other dragons. She prefers to keep her scales simple most of the time.

Scars > Julia has quite a few very small scars, but they're difficult to see because of how much they've faded over time. The edge of one of her wings is badly ripped from an accident that happened when she was three years old. This makes it very difficult for her to fly.

Age > 9 years

Birthday > November 21

Sex > Female

Gender > Female

   Pronouns > She/Her

Sexuality > Pansexual

\\  A B I L I T I E S  //

Julia inherited one special ability from each of her parents. From her father, she gained the ability to change the color of her scales. From her Silkwing side, she inherited the ability to shoot silk from her wrists. Julia did not inherit her father's venom, but she does have two long, Rainwing teeth that poke out a bit over her bottom lip.

Julia was born with one set of wings, but the membrane was extremely soft and easy to rip when she was born, almost like a tissue. As she got older the membrane did get tougher, but it was still a little weaker and easier to rip than the wing membrane of an average dragon. The same went for her scales, they seemed slightly softer than the scales of an average dragon.

POSITIVE:

Gentle
Julia is a very gentle dragon, she tries her best to be careful when talking to others so she doesn't accidentally hurt them. Even if another dragon purposefully says something rude to her, Julia will her her opinions about that dragon to herself and continue to be kind to them.

Affectionate
When Julia feels comfortable around another dragon, she can be very loving and affectionate. Julia likes physical contact, but she's almost never the one to go up and hug another dragon. She doesn't want to look like she's begging for attention, so she will often keep her feelings bottled up and won't say anything unless someone asks her about it.

Loyal
Julia is very loyal to dragons she feels comfortable around. She dislikes confrontations, but she will defend the dragons she cares about if she has to. Because of her personality, Julia can seem distant at times, but she really does care about other dragons, she just doesn't really know how to express her emotions.

NEUTRAL:

Obedient
If another dragon tells Julia to do something, she will often do it without any questions. Julia was raised to follow orders and to help others as much as she possibly can. It's easy to take advantage of her, and use her kindness against her. But Julia would probably never protest would go along with something even if it meant going against what she thinks is right.

Quiet
Julia isn't the kind of dragon who likes to yell and talk over others. A lot of the time, she will stay in the background and not speak to other dragons unless they try to talk to her first. Julia also has a quiet voice and she doesn't often raise her voice or yell.

Emotional
Julia can get very emotional at times. She doesn't often explain her feelings to other dragons unless they ask her if she's OK. Because of this, she'll often keep her emotions pent up for too long until it's too much. When this happens, she'll usually either start crying in the middle of a random situation, or she'll go to her room and stay there for a while. She doesn't like to let her emotions control her, but sometimes she can't do anything to stop it.

NEGATIVE:

Passive
Julia was raised to not fight back, and to rise above dragons who try to hurt her. She prefers to ignore insults and take the high road, rather than fight insults with more harsh words. The dragoness never speaks up for herself, and will allow others to yell at her and hurt her, and she'll never even try to defend herself.

Submissive
Julia is a very submissive dragon, she's never been a leader and never will be. The Silkwing hybrid prefers to let others lead while she follows behind, occasionally adding her thoughts and point of view to help out. But you will never see Julia as the one giving orders.

Gullible
Julia is very gullible and trusting, she'll believe anything anyone says to her. This is because of how she was raised, nobody has ever really lied to her in the past, so she has no reason to believe that anyone would ever try to harm her now. Because of this, it's easy to build relationships with her and get her to trust you.

LIKES >> Cloudy and windy days, dusk, flying over the ocean, sweet pastries, the Isle Mezzo, physical contact, Primrose

DISLIKES >> sour foods, yelling/arguments, judgmental dragons, the dark, being alone

SECRETS:

  > Julia has always been afraid of the dark because of what happened when she was a dragonet.

FEARS:

  > She's afraid that everyone at home will forget about her, eventually the memory of her will fade away and if she ever does come back nobody will recognize her face.

WISHES/DREAMS:

  > Julia someday hopes to return to the Silkwing Kingdom, she wants to see her family and Primrose again.

  > Even though Julia still loves Prim, she can't ignore the fact that her girlfriend has definitely moved on by now. Julia hopes that maybe she'll be able to find someone like Primrose on the Isle Mezzo. She knows it's a horrible thought and that she shouldn't even think about something like that. But even Julia could see that Prim wasn't the most loyal dragon, she loved constantly moving from relationship to relationship, and Julia wants to be able to move on and find someone else, just like Prim most likely has. She does hope that she and Prim can still be friends, though.

 Before Hatching

Julia's father was a Rainwing named Nightshade. Ever since he was a dragonet, Nightshade had been an explorer. He had always enjoyed going on adventures and finding new places. By the time he was ten years old, he had traveled all over Pyrrhia. He had explored each of the kingdoms, and written down important things about them in his scrolls. Nighthade was also very curious, and often nosy. He always seemed to ask too many questions and often tried to force his way into other dragon's lives. Because of this, he wasn't very well liked within his own kingdom, but Nightshade really couldn't care less. He ignored the ways other dragons seemed to stiffen and look away when he came too close to them. Nightshade didn't seem to notice any of this, he was oblivious and too worried about himself and his adventures to wonder about what others thought of him. When he was twelve years old, Nightshade decided to explore the other continent. He had heard a lot about Pantala, but he also wanted to see it for himself. His family was more than happy to let him go do what he wanted. Nightshade's nosy behavior had given the whole family a bad reputation. So a few days later, Nightshade set off to the other continent, hoping to make another discovery.

The journey from Pyrrhia to Pantala took four days, but it was worth it in the end. Nightshade loved everything about the new continent, and after a few weeks of living there he forgot all about his plans of returning to Pyrrhia. He enjoyed the company of the Pantalan dragons, and the more time he spent around them, the more he started to think about how different things had been in his old home. He realized that these new dragons were much kinder and more eager to talk to him than the other dragons back in Pyrrhia. Of course, Nightshade didn't know that this was because of how he acted in Pyrrhia, and instead believed that the Pantalan dragons were just more polite than the other dragons he had met. As time went on, he began to resent the dragons on Pyrrhia, blaming them for his own mistakes because he simply didn't know the truth and didn't realize that he had been the problem.

During his time on Pantala, Nightshade met a Silkwing named Comet. The two dragons would talk often about different topics, but mostly Nightshade's adventures and exploring. Comet seemed interested in this, but when Nightshade offered to take her to Pyrrhia. She quickly stopped him and explained that she would rather stay in Pantala. The two slowly began to grow a closer bond as they spent more time together. Comet seemed to be one of the only dragons who actually seemed to enjoy listening to Nightshade ramble about his adventures. After two years, the two finally decided to get married. By now, Nightshade had stopped thinking about Pyrrhia and his family back at home, and he was sure that his family didn't miss him, either, and that was fine with him. Nightshade loved his wife and treated her like a queen, and he could tell that Comet loved to be pampered. Nightshade and Comet would spent a lot of time together, roaming around the continent and talking about their lives and what would happen in the future. It didn't take long before Comet was expecting her first clutch of eggs.

 Baby Dragonet

Julia hatched on the twenty first of November and was the only dragonet in her clutch. Nightshade was immediately in love with his dragonet. He would tell her stories about his adventures and how he got to Pantala. Julia seemed to love the stories, but Comet disapproved. Nightshade let Julia get away with anything she wanted when she was younger, he let her go outside at sunset, and to climd the tallest trees near their house. Comet would always yell at him for this, she was very nervous about her daughter getting hurt and in her mind Nightshade was being a horrible parent by constantly putting Julia in danger. After a while, Comet began to closely watch her daughter, even going so far as to follow her around when she travelled outside of the house to make sure she wasn't getting into trouble. If Julia ever did something dangerous or something Comet disapproved of, the Silkwing would scold her daughter. Over time, Julia forgot to think for herself, she would stop and wait for her mother's nod of approval before doing anything. After this, Comet tried even harder to control Julia's life. She wouldn't let her daughter leave the house after sunset and if she did leave she had to stay where her parents could see her. Nightshade had been allowing this to happen for a while and he didn't know how to tell Comet that she was going too far. So he decided to give up and let his mate do what she wanted.

Nightshade had always been a nosy dragon, but he had never been good at confronting dragons or telling them if he had a problem with something. He didn't like that Comet was forcing Julia to stay so close to the house because he wanted his daughter to be able to explore and make new friends. Exploring had always been a big part of Nightshade's life, and he had always wanted to share that with his daughter. He let this go on for a while longer, before the Rainwing finally decided to confront his mate. The two argued for a while before Comet finally agreed that Julia should be allowed to go where she wanted as long as she didn't stay out past dark. Comet was still very protective of her child, and was constantly worried that Julia was going to get hurt. The Silkwing loved her daughter, but she wasn't the best as showing her affection or letting Julia know how much she really cared about her.

 Dragonet

As she got older, Nightshade started to tell Julia more about his adventures in Pyrrhia. Comet didn't really approve of it though, she was afraid that Julia might go off and explore by herself someday and end up getting hurt. But she didn't really have much to worry about, Julia had always been a very timid dragonet, not the adventurer her father had been hoping for. She enjoyed the stories her father told her, but she would never want to go off on her own to explore a strange place. Julia preferred to wander around the forest close to their house and play in the lakes and rivers. Julia had always liked to swim, and she would often spend a lot of time in the lake beside her house.

Julia had always been an obedient dragonet, listening to her parents and doing what they asked her to do without question. But one night she had gone exploring a little too far away from their house and the dragonet got lost on her way hope as the sun was setting. Julia tried to retrace her steps back through the forest, but she hadn't left a trail. As the forest around her started to get darker, Julia sat down on a fallen tree and tried to gather her thoughts. She was a decent climber, but she didn't know how well she would be able to navigate the trees in the dark, she was also worried about falling off of a branch and breaking something. Julia didn't know what else to do after that, she was afraid of wandering deeper into the forest and possibly getting even more lost, so she decided to sit down and wait until morning. But when it started to get too dark, the hybrid got scared and decided to try to find her way home, even if it meant getting even more lost. Julia tried to get through the forest, but it was too dark for her to see anything and she tripped and fell into a patch of thorns. The thorns tore both of her wings, but the right was more damaged than the left. It took a while for Julia to untangle herself from the brambles, but when she finally got away from the thorns, Julia continued through the forest. She made it back to her house just as the sky was starting to get lighter. Ever since then Julia has been terrified of the dark and refuses to go anywhere after dusk without a lamp of some sort. Because of how her wings were damaged, it was also difficult for her to fly after the incident. When this happened, Julia was only six years old.

For a while after the incident Comet hovered over Julia as much as she could. She would follow her daughter around outside, carefully watching over her and trying to make sure that something bad didn't happen again. After the accident, Julia began to avoid the forest as much as possible. Instead, she would spent a lot of her time swimming in the nearby rivers and pond close to the house. Because of all the time she spent into the water, Julia became a skilled swimmer and learned how to use her ruined wings for something other than flying. Now that she had a new way to spend her time, and got to do something she actually enjoyed, Julia didn't mind comet's hovering as much as she had before. But Comet knew that soon she would have to let her daughter go off on her own to the military. Julia had been born with wings, and because of this she would join the military on her sixth birthday, instead of after growing her wings. Comet hated the thought of letting her daughter leave to do something so dangerous, but there was nothing she could do to stop her. Julia also disliked the thought of being in the military, but she didn't dwell on it much after she realized that she was required to do it. If it had been an option she would have chosen not to, but she didn't really have a choice in the matter. On her sixth birthday, Julia said goodbye to her family and went off to join the military.

Sadly, her year in the military was just as bad as she had feared it would be. Julia had never been a good fighter and because of her ruined wings she wasn't good at flying, either. The only thing she really seemed to excel at was using her speed and agility to her advantage. The dragoness did learn a few useful things during her time in the military, but she still really disliked it. Julia never understood why the Silkwings were always so focused on learning battle tactics and ways to attack the other tribes. She wanted to ask someone about it, but was afraid that she would get yelled at for questioning something that was really none of her business. Julia had never been the kind of dragon who liked to fight, she hated confrontations and would avoid them whenever possible. Because of her quiet personality and her strange shifting scales and fragile wings, a lot of the other Silkwings thought of her as odd and avoided her. It was be an understatement to say that the hybrid was very relieved when she finally got to return home after her miserable year in the military. her parents were happy to see her again, but even though Julia has spent a year in the military and was probably capable of taking care of herself by now, Comet still hovered over her and continued to be the overprotective parent she had always been.

 Young Adult

After Julia's seventh birthday, she started to leave the house more and explore the territory. She didn't think she would ever explore a place like Pyrrhia or the Isle Mezzo, but it was fin to look around in the forest close to her house. One day when she was exploring, Julia met a Leafwing named Primrose. The two of them spoke for a while in the forest, exchanging stories and talking about their lives. It didn't take long before Julia was smitten with the pale green Leafwing. After that, the two began to meet more often in the forest, they would explore the trees and collect odd pieces of moss and plants. Primrose was nothing like any of the other dragons Julia had met before, and she liked that. As the two spent more time together, they slowly became better friends, and eventually, after knowing each other for a year, the two finally decided to start dating. At first things were normal, but Julia soon started to notice things about Primrose, bits of her personality that the Leafwing hadn't revealed before. Primrose was quick to anger, and got jealous very easily. The two would often get into arguments that would often end with Primrose stomping away. During these arguments, Primrose would yell at Julia and insult her, making Julia feel guilty when the Silkwing hybrid never really did anything wrong. But Julia never fought back and just waited for Primrose to walk away. She knew that after Primrose was done being angry and ignoring Julia for a few days, she would come back and say how sorry she was for everything she said. This happened multiple times during their relationship, but Julia never really realized what was going on. She really did care about Primrose and she was sure that the Leafwing felt the same about her, she just had an odd way of showing it.

As Julia got older, she started to think about possibly leaving Pantala. Maybe it was because of the stories her father told her, or maybe she wanted to get away from Comet. But as the days went by, Julia started to think more and more about exploring somewhere new. Because she was constantly lost in her own thoughts, she seemed much more distant and of course, Primrose was angry at her because of it. Julia started to ask her father about the different places he had visited and what he discovered there. Nightshade told her all about his adventures in Pyrrhia and Julia was amazed by his stories about the other continent. As much as the thought of leaving scared her, she still felt the urge to go and explore the strange continent. Until Nightshade mentioned a place called the Isle Mezzo. He brought her scrolls about the island and at that moment, Julia knew exactly where she wanted to go. The scrolls had explained that many dragons called the Isle their home. She read about the University and the Alliance, along with the different places to visit on the island. It took her a while to decide, but what she was nine, Julia finally decided that it was time to explore. She packed her things into a small bag and got ready to leave. Of course, Comet disapproved and asked her daughter to stay, but Julia knew that this was what she wanted to do. Because of this, Comet yelled at Julia and then locked herself in her room, refusing to believe that her daughter would leave her behind like that. Nightshade was much more supportive, he gave her a map of the Isle and asked her to write notes about the places she visited. Before she left, Julia also went to visit Primrose, but the Leafwing was still ignoring her, Julia explained where she was going and why, but Primrise didn't listen. When she left Pantala and started her journey to the Isle Mezzo, Julia didn't know what to think. She hated leaving her home and her family behind, but she knew that her father would want her to explore and discover new things for herself, and Julia wanted to make him proud.

   >> Comet - I'm still really sorry that I scared you so much when I stayed out in the woods. I promise I didn't do it to make you mad... I just couldn't find my way back home. I can't believe I did that and I should have been more careful.

   >> Nightshade - I've always loved your stories about your adventures. I know you really wanted me to travel to the Isle Mezzo.. and I tried my best to make you happy. But I'm not sure if this is the right place for me. I want it to be, I promise I do, but it doesn't feel like home.

> Primrose  - I hated the arguing, I didn't like how we always seemed to have different opinions and how you always got mad at me because mine were different than yours. I really really disliked how you would ignore me when I didn't agree with you, you would walk past me like I didn't exist. That hurt more than anything. But then you would come back, you would tell me you loved me and that you were sorry. You kept coming back and I wanted you back because I loved you, and I still do. Even when you yelled at me and then turned away and left me behind, I still love you. But now there's a continent between us and I don't know if I'll ever see you again. I miss you...

Because of all the time she spends outside, Julia doesn't really smell like one thing. As the seasons change and shift, her smell changes with it. In the summer she smells like rain, in the summer she smells like different kinds of flowers, in autumn she smells like apples and other autumn smells and, in the winter she smells like pine.
