Do you know why? Because you really don't have any idea what an opinion is.
Opinion, noun: 1."A view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge"~Oxford English dictionary
2. "an estimation of the quality or worth of someone or something."
An opinion only deals with someone's personal preference, ideas, interests and/or feelings about something.
You have to understand that quality is subjective, but quantity is objective.
Examples:
"The US military is the best in the world" That indicates quality, which means it is an opinion.
"The US military has about 1.5 active personnel" That indicates quantity, which means it's not an opinion.
Examples of more opinions:
"The San Francisco Giants are the best baseball team."
"I think Donald Trump might be a good president."
"Undertale is overrated"
"Socialism is better than capitalism"
"Frozen is an awful movie"
"Canada is a great country"
"Global warming is actually a good thing"
Stating a specific event, statistic, quote, or characteristic is NOT an opinion.
Does the following sentence make any sense?
"There are 17 syllables in a haiku in my opinion."
No it does not, do you know why? Because you are stating a certain characteristic about the topic, not a personal preference.

"Rey is a Mary-Sue"
"Donald Trump is a racist"
"Adolf Hitler was a communist"
"Steven Universe is created by Rebecca Sugar"
"The Pope is a Catholic"
"The United States received independence after Christopher Columbus discovered America"
"Global Warming is real"
If you find someone who say "It's just my opinion," when they are actually in denial, please send them this.

I thought the term Mary sue varies from person to person, making what a Mary sue is turn into a subjective term, making the statement "Rey is a Mary Sue" no longer a fact, but rather a very subjective opinion.
Although, I could be wrong about this, I don't know a lot about star wars, but Mary sue itself is a subjective term, because one thing weight be a Mary sue to one person, but be a well developed character to another based on their definition.

Example: you know what an opinion is, yet you go around saying that your opinion is fact.
