Description

Here are some shots of the collaboration build with its primer coat on. The primer stage is always one of my most favorite steps in a model build. the transition from build to paint and in this case the trade off from me to is always pretty exciting . I never really know what a project will look like until I get to this stage as primer starts tying everything together. The primer always starts making a project look more like a proper model than a crazy mess of plastic and tiny bits glued everywhere. while primer usually is the painters responsibility I just had to indulge myself as I really do love doing the primer(and lets me see if I messed anything up really bad lol)

This model is by far one of my most complex builds. kitbahsed and scratch built in 1/35 scale over the course of a month. Huge thanks to   for coming up with awesome sketches and concept art that got my ideas stewing an gave me a helping dose of inspiration. Loads and loads of parts, details, gimmicks etc. have been left off this WIPs photos(and tracks cant be fully attached yet, thus them being not being on right, just use your imagination lol)the kit does break down even future, with tons of separate sub assembly's and loads of extras. The kit is already in the mail and judging by the tracking, robot should get his hands on it sometime this weekend. Be on the lookout on his account for progress on the paint and both our accounts for the finished build and a way to make this beast of a model your own!

As always, questions, comments  and suggestions welcome.

hahahah hopefully!

honestly i think i am just gonna strip the trailer for all its plastic. the kit is a bit worse than i had feared. but i will be sure to cover the rest in awesomesauce.

I'd leave it like this, then add a lunar backdrop for  photos.

hahha i had almost the same idea! i had wanted it to be some sort of sci-fi ride, and once that primer went on, i thought it would look perfect on some moon. but i am sure with the paint and all the extra bits on(including windows) it will look even better.

might have to think about and talk to the robot about doing a composite shot tho......

do moon ( or some alien world) photos first, then paint it as you wish but however you go from here, this thing will always have a sci-fi feel to it.

i would of but its already in the hands of the painter. hes big into sci-fi so i have a feeling it will go that way in his hands.

we shall.
hopefully but i have a feeling he will do epic work on the paint and it will keep the sci-fi vibe(as he LOVES sci-fi too)

Yeah---of course I created an entire series of novels based on those two words.
I was watching "Meet the Raisins" with my nieces, back when they were just little girls.
One of the skits the California Raisins did was a Star Trek parody called "Star Truck".
That got me thinking, and for me that always leads to something weird.

ahhhh man that you soo much, this comment really made my day. i worked sooo hard on this(mostly time consuming and complex) i wanted to make sure for my first collaboration i pushed myself and gave it my all. i was sweating it right up intill i got the primer on. while not perfect, i am pretty impressed by my work and how it does like like an actually kit/ride than a bunch of bits and amateur scratch building.
and i leaned A TON about building stuff from stock plastic, so next time ill be a bit fast about it.

You're welcome dude!! It really is an amazing piece. It really shows your devotion to the project it self, which is really cool!
It's nice when you learn and it makes future stuff go so much faster

thanks!
still really not sure, i was thinking some sort of all around engineering vehicle, maybe collecting scrap or artifacts...the painter is planing a base as well, so i kinda left it up to him to do the back story or role it play in his scene.

I plan to start my Super Pershing today, i've a few ideas for it

Is this gonna be a WW2 tractor? futruistic or something completely off the charts? XD

enc86 In reply to Tank-Dragon [2015-03-28 14:53:27 +0000 UTC]

ahhhh nice, that kit and tank are freaking cool! kinda excited to see what you do with it.

probably more futuristic,sci-fi or something. really kinda depends on what he does with the paint and base. i had my own back story for it, but i didn't want to limit his creativity and such.

Mineraleater [2015-03-28 12:16:02 +0000 UTC]

That trailer... i know a similar one from the Revell-Kit of a 1:35 Willis Jeep (?) ^^

Do you have some kind of backgroundstory for it?

The tracks look awesome btw

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to Mineraleater [2015-03-28 13:13:46 +0000 UTC]

i want to say the trailer is from a Tamiya 1/35 Flakvierling, just converted a bit(but it was from a bash bin, so who really knows)

i kinda do have a back story in my head, but i know robot planed a base/diorama and i did not wait to limit his creativity, so i didn't write one up this time. but with all my projects, its hard for me not to come up with some sort of story and tec for it.

thanks, the tracks/wheels ect was one of my biggest worries about the kit. i had to re-do the engineering ect a few times before i settled on this set-up. wanted to make sure it would look good but allso be easy to paint.

after a quick search thru google, i am certain it was the 1/35 tamiya. i just added some bits and built up the cart with plastic sheet.

ahhhh awesome, you know i cant pass that up(the model hoarder i am) but i will have to give you something in trade as i know shipping can cost money. i have tons of figures, stowage, choice bits on hand.
send me a note and well will exchange addresses and tell me what you could use from my hoard.

we plan a route that goes through New York City and Washington. Is there any way to cross lines or take a early junction or so? would be awesome if we could meet!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to Mineraleater [2015-03-28 23:35:06 +0000 UTC]

i am way out there from there, not only by miles but roads(the way to get to my area is very rural) it would take a whole day just to reach me. the only place that would be close enough for me to get to would be Burlington Vermont, our only "real" city, tho its a wonderful place for the most part, even a wargaimng miniature shop. but if you are arrive in NYC its probly most of a days trip to get there and that's if you don't get lost.

ill try seeing how much it would be to ship Monday, but its probably more to ship than cost of inter kit lol hope someday we as a people can lower international shipping rates.

Mineraleater In reply to enc86 [2015-03-29 11:51:09 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, yeah, that is quite off... I think i cannot really change direction all the way up to you... hmmm have to find another way ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to Mineraleater [2015-03-29 13:23:10 +0000 UTC]

yea it would be a pretty massive trip. when i go to NYC i have to get a hotel room because it really does take a better part of a day to get there. its not even the miles it just our roads are poor and there is no "direct" route to get there.

Mineraleater In reply to enc86 [2015-03-29 20:50:10 +0000 UTC]

I am sure we will come up with something that can work out ^^
Haha, i know these poor roads, that get worse and worse with every turn you make ^^
I once drove in denmark and was forced to drive a half track off to prevent the car from hitting the ground!

ohhh man, that happens around here, that some scary stuff. that and nature itself. we have deaths every year form people hitting moose and deer with their cars.

Wow...
i was in 1999 caught in a storm in denmark. It was so powerful, the windows of the hospital were pushed open, the overland transmission lines hit themselves (i saw that with my eyes, it was a beautiful arc they created ^^) and a stone-house was destroyed... yeah, nature can be gruesome!

brilliant ! the progress on this has been very inspiring.  yep, your right, the primer does just give you that "im a model now" appearance.  the multitude of things on this are well planned and the result is just clear.  well done my friend.   ever closer to the "oreos" comparison

enc86 In reply to Tomstormcrow [2015-03-28 13:17:26 +0000 UTC]

thanks a tonnage buddy, all the hard work is worth it, if i can hear i inspired someone!

yea from random crazy bits to almost a real model, gotta love the primer. plus it highlights any spots that need some fixing. wanted to make sure when he got it, there was not any  surprises.

hahhaa yea now the primer is on and i breath a sigh of relief, i think we really are getting closer to the "oreos" standard XD
